Word For The Day, Wednesday, April 3, 2013-- equipoise
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
equipoise

noun
1. an equal distribution of weight; even balance; equilibrium.
2. a counterpoise.
verb (used with object)
3. to equal or offset in weight; balance.
Origin:
mid-17c., from merger of the phrase equal poise.

Practice makes perfect.....post on....
But watch out for Kentucky Woman:
If she get to know you,
She goin’ to own you.
AWESOME! There is hope for America yet. Made me smile.
Not sure I like the red border on the pillow with the burgundy in the pic.
Thanks. Feeling better today. Was in the dentist chair Monday losing my tooth when DH texted me to tell me he made the appointment. Pain, loss of my tooth and decent smile (implant coming as soon as I can get it done - not sure how long I have to wait) and knowing the time she would go to sleep had me feeling lousy. Add the rainy dreary day in and my week of vacation turned to hell. Things are looking better. Spring cleaning to commence momentarily. Having an invalid dog in diapers holds a certain stench in the house that I need to clean out. We put out all her bedding and things improved immediately yesterday. Now to wash everything down to finish the job.
Both are cute - I love Pier 1!
I thought it would cheer me up so I took a detour on my way home and went there, and it did. The pic has the burgundy from my foyer wall and a living room chair, so it all blends. The pillow is cute, but brings in the red. Red, white and blue will be my accent items for summer...so it all should blend nicely. Still need a spring/summer throw for the sofa. With the AC I need it at times.
It is 60 and has been raining off and on since last night-I love it!
Every day there’s some new mess
Obama’s bunch is trying to sell-
If you’re looking for equipoise,
That’s long since gone to hell
Every time a bill gets passed
No one knows just what is in it-
As soon as someone reads the thing
It sounds worse by the minute
The Russian Roulette they’re playing
Was financed with our hard-earned cash-
But the junk they bought with it
Should be put out with the trash...
I like that-the colors don’t go with the area I live in, but there are plenty of Sunflowers here, both naturally, and because I throw the seeds around all the time...
That is so cool-I hope we see more and more of that happening everywhere.
I know you are missing your pet-they become so much a part of our families-but that is a good thing, I think...
I was singing this as I was hiking at dawn in the wet woods this morning-good thing I was alone on the trail-I have been singing it ever since-don’t know why...
“We come on the sloop John B
My grandfather and me
Around Nassau town we did roam
Drinking all night
Got into a fight
Well I feel so broke up
I want to go home
So hoist up the John B’s sail
See how the mainsail sets
Call for the captain ashore
Let me go home, let me go home
I wanna go home, yeah yeah
Well I feel so broke up
I wanna go home”
Hey, at least it is a cheerful earworm for a rainy day...
I saw them perform at Jadwin Gym at Princeton U when I was in HS. Great show.
A+++
I always look forward to your poem
at the end of my Wednesday shift.
A+++
Clearly a perfect exemplar of today’s word.
We had two storms roll through here late last night and early this morning - I got 2 inches of rain out of the combination!
The pic comes in different backgrounds as is usual for Pier One. I picked the one that blended into my home the best.
The last time I saw the BB’s was at the coliseum in SA in about 1980-the show was outdoors, and so many people you could hardly move. My first husband and I had a great time, even though we came home with our ears ringing from being so close to the stage, and clothes drenched and reeking of spilled/thrown beer.
Thanks-it is about to rain again here-I can hear the thunder. There are almost 2 inches in the rain gauge, but we could use about 3 times that, in my opiniom, falling nice and slow.
Thank you!
