Exactly!!

what is spellbinding is that Rita was REALLY SEXY..with beautiful clothes on and had dignity as a woman and class.

Beyonce, Gaga and Madonna just can’t give off those vibes even when they are half dressed in s sleezy outfit singing about trash!

with the modern sluts, we’re lucky when they are even half-dressed. usually that ratio seems to be under 10%

That is 84 years old, isn't it?

They just aren’t even sexy...that’s the irony.

and your point about “giving off the right vibes” is really important.

the issue (with me anyway) is not just whether they stay dressed but also whether they act with any dignity
-— vibes

*(in short, if I wanted to watch a porn flick, I’d go get one)

My mistake. I was thinking dates not years. She was 84 (B 1911, D 1995).

==

Maybe that video was mis-titled that is was made in (l9)92, not that she was 92.

Regardless, it was an outstanding performance.

Ginger Rogers dances Salsa at 92 years old

**************

Someone got their math incorrect.

Born: July 16, 1911, Independence
Died: April 25, 1995, Rancho Mirage

Ginger Rogers was 84 when she died.

Sarah “Paddy” Jones is attributed to be the dancer in the clip.

Fantastic! Thanks RR! Damn, it sure got my old motor going. Rita was the best. She was a real STAR, (Among the many in/from that era), unlike these phony baloney kids runnin’ around now.

According to the comments section, the dancer is a 75 year old woman on a Spanish TV program. Her name seems to be Sara “Paddy” Jones, not Ginger Rogers.

Yep, exactly as you said, Rooster. I thought about it while chomping on dinner from the refrigerator that appears to be broken, (another damn expense, should have lissened to Consumer Reports which once dissed GE fridges, because of GE and the atomic bombs they build, but in the very next issue recommended a Sears fridge that was made by GE and was the same model. True story), and thinking about what I read on Youtube earlier today.

I think it all has to do a lot with the popular culture embracing the cultural models from the ghetto. It started innocently with Elvis’ pink suits and Cadillacs, but it proceeded in the 60s until today as a political statement and worship that have nothing to do with rock and roll or rhythm and blues. But a lot to do with the white guilt, and the emancipation of the lowest classes, not only political but also cultural. I don’t think that Louis Armstrong would have liked what we have become.

Our parents learned in school about Rome and Greece, our grandparents studied those languages. Our children learn about Africa, once known as the “dark continent”, known as such for many good reasons that are valid to this day even if expressing them is so politically incorrect. Do you recall when the Polish Foreign Minister Sikorski, who is not known for his diplomatic delicacy, publically cited a Polish joke about Obama having Polish blood, because his (Obama’s, not Sikorski’s!) ancestor had eaten a Polish missionary? Certainly an ethnocentric joke, but also reflecting an older way of thinking about Africa that is no longer allowed. Hear that?

Earlier today I saw on Youtube Ray Charles on Dick Cavett’s show from the early 70s or even earlier, performing Chuck Willis’ “Feel So bad” (”Feel like a ball game on a rainy day” - go ahead write me lyric like this!)(Not the best version: look up Elvis and especially Little Milton to hear minor masterpieces.) Dick gives a long respectful introduction with a brief story of Ray Charles’ life, blindness, and that “he was black”. No “R” word, which was already known then (thanks, some claim, to none other than Leon Trotsky, but certainly a Soviet weapon of destruction aimed at the West). And then I read the comments of Youtube users. And they are not about the music, about the composition, about the performance, about Dick’s hair, they are about the common obsession of the day, the “R” word, and how it had supposedly affected Ray Charles. I wanted to scream!

Many people today, and certainly most of young people when asked what percentage of the population are American blacks, will, thanks to the constant media propaganda and educational lies, and this national obsession with “R” that crosses all political boundaries, grossly overestimate the number with responses as high as 50%.

Hayworth wasn’t particularly all that great an actress, and she had a certain flightiness in real-life (always falling in love), but on-screen she consistently comported herself with great taste, dignity and unpretentiousness. Made the most of what she had.

Seeing Hayworth on the screen evokes thoughts of “romance.” Seeing Madonna and Lady Gaga evoke thoughts of VD. A fitting juxtapositon of what’s become of our sewer of a culture.

The problem is that we confuse racism with culturalism.

A person’s potential is not limited by his skin color, but that does not mean that all cultures are equal. And they equate criticism of culture with racism, and that’s wrong.
