The United States faces, in my opinion, a less than 0.5% chance of being hit by a crude or advanced fission type nuclear weapon by North Korea. In fact the delivery systems they currently possess limit the ability of the regime in Pyongyang to very few targets outside of their region, putting US troops at risk but worse, the ability to destroy America does exist in that region. One map illustrating the targets of highest probability demonstrates why:

The patient was an unshielded source detected at a few feet. A nuclear weapon in Earth orbit will be shielded by its casing and be hundreds of miles away. The intensity of any radioactive decay signal diminishes as the square of the distance. Norad might be able to estimate a satellite’s density, but that can be spoofed also.
If it were an EMP device, it probably doesn’t matter that the attitude control system has gone haywire; as long as they could arm and set it off at a particular time.
Combine your post with the one just before it, and you have a missile with a warhead smuggled in via container ship, then launched straight up from the interior of the US. It takes about 5 mins to reach 250-300 miles altitude for HEMP. We would not be able to stop that.
Current space radar can SEE through the Earth's surface down 30 miles to detect if not resolve tectonic plates sinking ~ Geology magazine abot 2 and a half years back had a great article on the use of space radar to look at the plate plunging underneath/near the magma plume that underlies Yellowstone.
It's all in the sensitivity of the receptors and the capability of the computer software to figure out what it is.
So, yup, you can find a shipload of ceramic floor tile from China with the requisite uranium content FROM SPACE.
Those were the usual $6 per square foot tiles ~ and they went on sale ~ once they were allowed to land ~ since that radioactivity wasn't of serious concern ~ for about $0.60 per tile. I did the basement!
China’s president said a while ago that that his greatest concern is that if he does not create 25 million new jobs each year, the Chinese people will riot and overthrow his regime and send the country into chaos.
If NK messes up our economy, we will not be able to buy as much Chinese stuff and that will cause factories to close in China and China will be consumed with internal strife.
China must prop up the USA in order for its regime to survive.
Therefore, China will step in and tell Kim3 to tone it down. China might just stage a diplomatic coup by negotiating a “peace treaty” between Obama, South Korea and NK. Kim3 will then be hailed as a Great World Hero who stood up to the USA and “won”.
We are not going to war and NK will not lob a rocket towards us. Also, we probably know exactly what is in the satellite package NK launched a while ago. If it was hot, I am sure that Tom Clancy could tell us how we would cause it to de-orbit into the Marianas Trench.
I am not worried about NK as much as I am about Obamacare.
The scary part....
1) Idiot Boy is being manipulated.
2) They have nothing to lose except population, which they would gladly sacrifice.
3) It’s difficult to bomb them back to the stone age when that is where they already live.
Just a thought or two.
There’s a lot of common sense in your post.
If we had any credit capacity, I would agree with you. But we and the world are tapped out.
Also, factories were a lot simpler in 1945 and so were the products they produced.
In a disaster scenario, there would be shortages, which fuel inflation. Arguably, a period of hyperinflation would allow us to pay back our debt with lower value dollars and we could balance our budget. But, the human suffering would be awful during such a global reset.
Obamacare is stealing your disposable income faster than inflation or NK.
If our government really wanted to accelerate the closure of Kim3’s latest tirade, Obama would give a speech and declare NK to be a worthless acquisition for the USA and we would never invade it for that reason. That would really confuse the NK’s.
just for fun if anything is hanging ... </i></b>
“I did read this AM that China is moving troops to the north, to position them closer to North Korea.
Even though China has tried to reason with this loon, I personally think they are sick of the twerp.
China could lose the same number of people that are in all of North Korea and still have a billion people, they may just swarm and wipe out the whole place.”
It is not only your opinion. I have Chinese friends who currently live in China who say that the ChiComs are totally fed up with the Norks. They also fear that if war does start then Nork refugees will pour into China and they do not want that to happen.
Or the container ship is from N. Korea painted and flagged to represent a S. Korean vessel.
Thanks, that adds to my info world.
This is not going to end well for the people of North Korea, I weep for the regular Joe........and at the same time want to smash that twerp Un into dust.
We just need to have the “B@lls” to just drop a few bunker busters in various STRATEGIC locations around N Korea and then tell them the next round will be Nuclear.
china will not enter the fray—They will be cheerleaders but not take part—least they loose there WalMart cash cow the USA. They may even help to end it once North Korea hurts Japan and South Korea—ending them as Rivals to China. Obama will be their cat’s paw and end the war! With aid to the north. He will get a second Peace Prize too. In one blow China gets the whole of Asia as their own economical empire! who loses? Freedom.
