Is it her face? Her personality? Is she too perfect? Everyone wants to know why we hate Anne Hathaway. We want to know why they care so much.
Last time Anne Hathaway gave an acceptance speech after she won the best-supporting-actress Oscar for her performance in Les Misérables. You’d think she committed mass murder.
What began as the “cult of Hathahaters” two months ago has simmered, bubbled over, and formed a zeitgeist-seizing, rage-fueled movement against the actress, peaking with a series of think pieces examining what Hathaway has done to trigger such a response. As if it’s some major social or political question that must be answered—like how to prevent the sequester or who should be the next pope—these essays explore every facet of Anne’s very Anne-ness in an attempt to get to the root of the problem.
People are stronger in their convictions on the issue than they are on most platforms that determine presidential elections. Now a hatred has arisen that’s typically reserved for celebrities who go on anti-Semitic rants (hello, Mr. Gibson) or hit their girlfriends (bonjour, Mr. Brown). Hathaway, by comparison, gave some speeches that were kind of annoying. Forget media frenzy. It’s a media pile-on, and it’s out of control.
So what are we supposed to think about her?
“She’s got this theater-kid thing where she adopts the mood of every situation she’s in ... but wildly overcompensates every time,” writes The Atlantic Wire’s Richard Lawson. CNN quotes an oratory expert who tells us that Hathaway’s “just one of the people who just doesn’t come off as sincere.” The New Yorker’s Sasha Weiss posits that it’s because the actress appears too happy.

Last month was very exciting because Hollywood actually released a film that did not feature Freeman! And this sick addiction to casting him as a god, a president or a genius is truly hurl-inducing.

I wouldn’t be her for all the money in the world. There is something about the way she carries herself that makes her very unattractive and unlikeable.

Follieri was arrested on June 24, 2008, on charges of defrauding investors out of millions of dollars in a scheme in which Follieri posed as the Vatican’s point man on real-estate investing.[80] It was reported that the FBI confiscated Hathaway’s private journals from Follieri’s New York City apartment as part of their ongoing investigation into Follieri’s activities; however, Hathaway was not charged with any crime.[81] On October 23, 2008, after earlier pleading guilty, Follieri was sentenced to four and a half years in prison.[82][83]
She was awesome in Les Miserables...her “I Dreamed a Dream” was full of passion, angst, and weakness—rarely do you see someone so into character for a musical...

I'm not surprised . . . happens to a lot of these young people who are ridiculously wealthy, and then who pretend that they're something because they have access to things the average working slob will never have.
However, I consider her fascinating to look at . . . repulsive to listen to.
I’ll have to disagree. It really took off after her Broadcast Film Critics Association Awards acceptance speech. And it grew with every acceptance speech after that one, because all her speeches were basically the same; over emotional.
The second they showed her on TV attending one of those Occupy Movement rallies I didn’t give a crap about her anymore. The second these Hollywood liberal freaks decide to go full activist is when I boycott their movies and everything else they appear in. If they want to be liberal, fine, be liberal, but trashing those who have earned wealth or trashing half the country is where I draw the line. Look at the movies that have bombed recently, Admission with Tina Fey, total BOMB, The Burt Wonderstone movie with that flaming idiot Jim Carrey, another bomb..notice a theme here

He was released on May 25, 2012, from a federal prison in Pennsylvania and immediately deported to his native Italy, where crooks like Billionaire Silvio Berlusconi continue to be taken seriously by the voters.

Hathaway broke up with Follieri after she discovered the truth about his business. After he was released from prison, Follieri said he had no interest in clearing his name. But it now appears that Hathaway’s ex has had a change of heart.
“He misses America, and when he gets enough money he wants to lobby for a presidential pardon,” a source told The New York Post. The businessman is allegedly attempting to buy an “energy company in Switzerland” according to the source, but is still having difficulties.
Despite his hardships, Follieri said last year that he was happy for Hathaway and her engagement to Adam Schulman.
