s I posted earlier, the 17-year-old Houston resident was shot to death Tuesday by a police SWAT team during a drug raid on his family's home. It's increasingly looking like yet another paramilitary drug raid gone horribly wrong.
The father of a 17-year-old killed by a police officer who was looking for drugs at his home said the shooting was unprovoked.

The elder Castillo said his son was awakened by the pleas of his 20-year-old sister, Ashley. When the younger Castillo turned toward Falks, he said, the officer shot him in the face.
"My son heard her say, 'Don't shoot.' He got up to see what was going on," the elder Castillo said.
The teen's sister was with her 1-year-old when Falks burst into the bedroom, the elder Castillo said.

You need to re-read the posts in this thread. I never said I knew about this case in 2007. I am not from Houston. It looks like there were lots of articles in the Houston press in 2007 about this. There was even some national press, in the Huffington Post and Reason magazine, for example. Having been here in 2007, I can say that this is the kind of article that Freepers frequently post when they come across it in their local paper, or at a site like Yahoo or Google News. I would not be surprised to learn that this story was in fact already discussed extensively right here on this site; although I don't know if it was. As I said, if it was not posted here, it's only because the Houston freepers who would have definitely seen this story chose not to put it on Free Republic. And now here we are, 6 years later. There are literally thousands of stories that could be posted from 6 years ago that would have murder, violation of constitutional rights, tragedy and all the elements that your story does, but we would be spending a lot of time on old news if we were to rehash all of them. That's why I was wondering why you posted it now, wondering if something new had happened in the case or something. If not, well, ok, thanks for sharing this old news but keep an eye out for something fresher, because it's what is going on right now that is endangering all our liberties, not some moron cop from a town called Wharton.
[sarcasm] Well, yeah, but we’re not a police state: the police didn’t shoot anybody at the wrong address this time. [/sarcasm]
I’m married to a Sicilian biker.
“Snitch” is the filthiest word ever.
Welcome to the New Normal®.
This is so depressing that I took a break and watched Beverly Hills Chihuahua with the dogs.
[where the evil villain, “El Diablo” is a Dobermann]
*sigh*
Odin still growls at the end of the movie.
El Diablo winds up adopted by a rich woman who puts a tutu on him.
Now *that* is just wrong.[er]
;]
When he was just a little pup and I ordered it on pay per view the first time, he watched the whole thing every time Diablo showed up, little nub tail wagging like crazy.
[I think they recognize their own kind]
When the ‘good guy’ GSD beats up Diablo at the end, he went berserk.
All the hair on his little 10 week old body stood up, he growled and barked and got really upset.
Now he just ‘rumbles’ and turns around on the sofa so his butt is facing the TV.
:D
‘Halla had never seen it before and she just thought all the dogs were ‘fun to watch’
She’s apparently a lot less prone to grudges than he is.
LOL
From what I’ve seen, Freeper attitudes on the subject were different even a few years back. Attitudes have changed over the last few years, as more examples of this problem have been forthcoming.
Why was it posted?
Because the 17 year old who was terminated for the crime of attempting to defend his terrified sister from home invaders could be any man here.
Because the 14 year old who was arrested for DARING to ask for a warrant could be any Freeper here.
Because Freepers, as a whole, prefer education to ignorance.
Because Freepers who travel to Houston or live in the area, who may not be aware of this story, may be interested in knowing what kind of police force is supported in Houston.
I’m convinced dogs recognize “their own kind”.
I saw the movie a few years back. At least most people don’t play “dress up” with working breeds they way they do with “toy” breeds. (Some folks take the ‘toy’ descriptor too literally.)
I understand it’s verboten in the Doberman community as well.
(As are “cat”, “vet”, and “no more raw meat for you.”)
Seriously, once again, history is repeating itself.
LOL!
My dogs *love* their vet.
He’s is SUCH a great guy who truly loves animals that they know it in their hearts and even give him a kiss after he’s stabbed them in the butt with a needle.
The Dobermanns, especially, literally burst *into* his exam room when our turn comes because they know that’s where he is.
I have to drag them out of his office when we’re done.
How crazy is that?
One of the rarest things you’ll ever see is an “Ibizan mix”.
They simply do not recognize other breeds of dogs as dogs, apparently.
I have had ‘sets’ of both breeds in the house many times and without fail, the Ibizans just ignored the Dobes’ very existence.
Wouldn’t even look at them, let alone interact.
Odin is the first Dobe they ever acknowledged and I think that was only because Gypsy, the Portuguese Podengo Medio ‘raised him as her own’ and he is now “bilingual”.
PPMs are derived from Ibizans with some kind of small, ancient rabbit hound mixed in thousands of years ago.
She was an interpreter, of sorts and my Ibizans all accepted him as one of their own.
Judging by how he interacts with ‘Halla, I suspect he’s more fluent in Ibizan than his own native language.
She knows what he is but he’s puzzled by her.
OK, good. Now post an article about the 5 year old burned alive by Janet Reno who could be anyone here’s daughter. It will be as timely.

Maybe he knows that she’s destined to become the new FR spokesdog for the FR Doberman community.

It's for the children.
There you go again, downplaying the death of 20 babies who were burned to death by the government.
