Verdell Hunter, the grandmother of Dominique Lane who is accused of shooting a baby in a stroller, says her grandson is the victim.
“I feel sorry for the mother. I feel sorry for the baby. And my baby is innocent. He could’ve been dead too,” said Brenda Moses, Lane’s mother.
Outside court Monday, Moses and Lane’s grandmother, Verdell Hunter, said Lane doesn’t know Elkins. Hunter said her family doesn’t know exactly what happened, but her grandson lives in the area and told her he was simply walking by when he saw Elkins.
“He’s a victim,” Hunter said. “He said that boy came up to him and said, ‘I’m fixing to off you off. You a Mexican.’ Because he had a hood on his head with the little thing in there. And my grandson said oh.”
“My grandson is a victim,” she added. “He could’ve been dead. The baby is a victim. The mother is a victim. My grandson is a victim. He’s a victim.”

Well, this is another update and what I’m trying to reconcile is why, if Lane didn’t know Elkins, did Mrs. Obley (Lane’s Auntie) pick up Elkins in her car when she picked up Lane. Was that like opening the door of your house for your dog to come in and a stray dog in the area just runs in past you too? I’m not making sense of this part. I’m sure it will come out. Just have to wait.
So did the aunt of the younger thug [Mrs Obley] drive the get away car???
Well the mother of the baby gave a description that matched the older perp who she then picked him out of 24 pictures shown to her. And the police already had him in custody.
And then Grandma Moses for one says that her little grandson was only a witness and didn't know Elkins before what he witnessed what Elkins did. So he fingered Elkins without knowing it and Gramma Moses confirmed it.
And then there is post #62 -- someone drove the getaway car and was spotted. Was it the aunt of the little thug???

The media, schools, and politicians have been telling black people that they are the victims got decades... It’s all they know.
Police in Brunswick have charged two teens with the intentional murder of the 13-month-old, apparently after a tip from an undaunted aunt of the younger of the pair.
The aunt, Debra Obley, later told a local TV reporter that she had inadvertently given her 15-year-old nephew, Dominique Lane, and 17-year-old De’Marquise Elkins a ride from the vicinity of the shooting a short time afterward.
“When he got in the car, he laid down in the backseat,” Obley said of the older teen. “He kept looking around, peeping up, and I said, ‘Boy, what you doing? You skipping school?’ You know, he said, ‘No, ma’am.’”
Obley recalled that she pressed the matter and Elkins decided to walk. As he climbed out of the car she saw something in his waistband, she said.
“A gun,” she said.
Obley questioned her nephew.
“I said…‘If you’ve got something to do with this little baby, you can’t talk to me. I’m your auntie,’” Obley told the reporter. “He said, ‘Auntie, I don’t even know the boy. I don’t have anything to do with that.’”
Obley said she called the police even though that meant she was also reporting her nephew. She has since been threatened.
“People saying they are going to kill me or have people to kill me, because I’m a snitch,” she said.
She still did not regret making the call.
“That was a baby,” she said. “That baby can’t come back. That mama will never get that baby back. Whoever did it deserves to be behind bars.”
A woman who identified herself as the aunt of the older teen, Elkins, was insisting that he had been at her house having breakfast at the time of the shooting.
“He was with us the whole time,” said the aunt, Katrina Freeman.
Elkins’s lawyer, public defender Kevin Gough, held a press conference. He was joined by the teen’s great-grandfather, 78-year-old McKinley Elkins.
“The De’Marquise we know, the De’Marquise we love, would not do anything like this,” the great-grandfather said. “De’Marquise is not guilty. De’Marquise is innocent.”
The lawyer declared, “De’Marquise is absolutely, positively, 1,000 percent not guilty of these charges against him.”
Elkins’s Facebook page was taken down shortly after his arrest, but not before people had taken screen shots of his photos. One shows a tattoo on his forearm featuring a cross and the letters “RIP.” Others show him flashing Bloods gang signs. Bloods favor the number five, as in a posting under “About De’Marquise.”

The mother and aunt of a 17-year-old accused of killing a toddler have each been arrested on charges of lying to police, and a weapon has been recovered in connection with the killing, according to Brunswick police.
Karimah Elkins, 36, the mother of De’Marquise Elkins, and Katrina Elkins, 33, the teen’s aunt, were each arrested Tuesday morning. They’re charged with making false statements or writings, and concealing facts or fraudulent documents in matters of government.

I’m on the West Coast and this story is already DEAD (not that it generated a lot of press out here, it wasn’t mentioned in my newspaper or on the TV news).
