Few signs of spring are being found in parts of the Midwest as a snowstorm tracks eastward mostly along Interstate 70, bringing heavy snow and high winds.
Two people killed in weather-related crashes were identified, dozens of Palm Sunday services were cancelled throughout Missouri, and about 100 flights were scrapped at Lambert Field in St. Louis.
Winter storm warnings and advisories have been issued for Sunday and Monday as far east as Pennsylvania.
The storm dumped 7 to 9 inches of snow from eastern Kansas into central Missouri before tapering off Sunday morning, said Dan Hawblitzel, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in suburban Kansas City.
In the central Missouri town of Columbia, TV station KOMU was briefly evacuated Sunday morning because of high winds and a heavy buildup of snow on the broadcast tower next to the building.

Damned global warming!
Yeah this global warming stuff is depleting my pile of burning wood. I am glad i put in an extra cord this year. One good thing is though the water levels will now get back near normal so we will not have to hear about water restrictions this summer due to global warming.
Well FRiends guess what, some of you know I am in Wasilla, Alaska, some also know I drive a concrete mixer, as of this very moment about 12:40am I am looking at our local radar as their is a Winter Storm Warning in effect, the forecast is from 8-18 inches of snow starting in just a couple of hours, on top of the 6” yesterday, so far schools are not closing and above all things I got a call last night saying I have to make a special concrete delivery as well.
Thats right, I have to drive a concrete mixer in the middle of a freakin blizzard today, plus I have to get out of my recliner, don my winter clothes and run the snowblower down the 150’ of driveway so the missus can get to work.
Of course Alaska weathermen are notoriously wrong. But I thought I would share with you what I have to do here in Alaska which would absolutely shut down most people in the lower 48.
Don’t you see?! If anything this is a confirmation of global warming! Because, er, like, the sun like, got mad at our cars and now, um....never mind.
Hey, I ain't complaining here in Texas. It's warm enough to work, which keeps the bill collectors (and Mommy) happy :-)
I thought I would share with you what I have to do here in Alaska which would absolutely shut down most people in the lower 48.
Respect!
Working the overnight shift at the Conoco-Phillips Refinery in Wood River, Illinois in 12 inches of global warming..and still coming down..!
No problem - you're onto something there. I hear the weather on Mars is weird these days too. Must be all them SUVs we've been landing there, eh?
You must live in one of them Agenda 21 restricted zones. Good for you.
I feel yer pain, friend. Be safe out there, and don't forget to thank Rev. Albore...
World's gone plum crazy. Must be Lord Obama dictating another sequester cut of sunlight...
Gotta make it hurt, ya know.
The original forecast for today was rain and temps in the lower 40’s but a cold front suddenly dropped from the north with an advancing wet warm front from the south, even just in the last 5 minutes the radar is actually showing rain over Anchorage which is about 35 miles SW of me.
At least its not coldf cold like in the minus digits.
I have to keep a 2000 gallon water tank at work heated to 100F 24/7 for any loads to go out, plus I keep two trucks in the massive in floor heated shop that could hold more if needed. I really hope I don’t have to chain up, hardly anyone uses chains here in the Mat Su valley and they are such a bear to put over 11R 24.5 radials.
But at least its a pump job I hear, all I have to do is back up to a pump truck and just keep the hopper filled.
Yes I could humbly say I earned respect, honestly I am of the very few that has repeatedly driven all through the winter when the other batch plants shut down. Its a delicate game of speed or lack of, inertia and center of gravity on curves and just staying out of the way of the ditchdivers, I suspect today may break a record as many have started to replace their winter tires early.
I wish I had a Go Pro camera in the mixer truck, I have seen all kinds of winter fanatics on the roads up here. Really, Alaskans just don’t quit when the snow falls and we get the usual first winter newcomers up here that do NOT have any winter driving skills, gonna be a fun day I expect, keep an eye on the www.adn.com or www.ktuu.com websites for the details.
Rev. Albore, AKA “Captain Chakra” made a fortune off of Global Warming. Truly a PT Barnum, in the sense that people actually bought carbon credits..
The more people talk about the weather, the less interesting it is.
I have friends who live on the Hillside in Anchorage. One winter I tried driving up the gravel road to their house and made the mistake of slowing to a stop on a bend in the rental car and could not get traction to get moving again. My buddy’s wife drove him down to us where he got in the rental and drove it up the hill like it was nothing. Yes, driving in Alaska is not for amateurs..
The left has no idea how badly he played them. The best thing that ever happened to him, was losing the 2000 election to George W Bush. Gore went on to make hundreds of millions of dollars off his global warming scam in the years afterwards.
Obamao felt that it absolutely essential to land the Mars Rover so that global warming on Mars could be blamed on SUVs.
algore is a national embarrassment..
