I was seeing either 10 or 13 messages thread; I was set to see 50 “messages per page”.
I changed to 20 and that works.
I have browsing at 20 results per page as well.

I “refreshed” an article I was reading that contained 22 comments, and after doing so, the article “dropped” all comments after the 8th one; in fact, it chopped #8 off in its middle. When returning to all articles (after hitting the “back” arrow), no sidebar appears.
