Somebody got paid to ‘prove’ the obvious?
Hell, I can tell what my snakes are thinking and they don’t really have “expressions”.
[but they do have definite body language]

We do (I’ve owned dogs, too, and love ‘em).
With my cats, they tell me when they want something by being ever-present. That includes meowing and rubbing. If If I ignore them...they resort to the “stare-down and squint”. Then I run off the list of their needs...”Out? Drink? Dinner? Brush?”. Then an affirmative meow and tapdance when I hit the right one.
Then, after their needs are met, they disappear and completely ignore me.
LOL.

I hope this study was done with private money and not tax dollars. I knew this when I was 3 years old.

My ten month old Irish Wolfhound/lab mix chewed enough holes in my 21 year old wellies last Friday to finally retire them to the trash. Just got news that he destroyed my Timberland boots this afternoon from Mrs Geronimo.
Contrary to this study he always gives me his, “Why are you angry with me for leaving those delicious chew toys by the back door?” face.
The bloody Irish are known for their stubborness but this is getting ridiculous, I'm screwed if there's any more snow to shovel.

As a cat and dog lover/owner, I can say, without a doubt, that am-uh-nuls are much more perceptive than we give them credit for. Their “slavery” is based on pure, unadulterated LOVE!

It’s true! Between facial expression and body language it’s very, very easy to understand what’s on your cat’s mind.
Getting a crash course in Dog as of late...neighbor’s pit-lab puppy has been coming over to visit a lot once he figured out all he has to do is show up and be fussed over. Cute as can be and he wags so hard his whole hind end wiggles.
