I thought St. Polycarp was the Patron Saint of aluminum bats?
If she wanted to get a warm place to sleep, three meals and medical why didn’t she just go rob a bank? Why pick on defenseless statues and why do they always pick on the Catholics. Oh and her face looks like something out of a nightmare, definitely looks like a Democrat!
Lev 26:1 ¶ Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up [any] image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I [am] the LORD your God.
She had him confused with John the Baptist.
How much will you be chipping in to her legal defense fund?
"You are a very bad man."
I won’t. Soon, though, The LORD will clear all idols out of the land, and He won’t need her help.
What idol did she clear out of the land?
If one wishes to beat up on statues, a Baptist church would see a poor choice of venue ...
Probably did it for three hots and a cot.
It's hard to tell what motivates the extremely mentally ill...........I tend to have sympathy for them rather than condemnation.
That's God's job...........
Statues, yes. Graven images, maybe not. I've seen some lovely stained glass windows in Baptist churches. Are they not graven images? Of course they are symbols, as are our statues.
My comment is not intended to bash Baptists. I'm pointing out that graven images can be found in many churches of many denominations. And I don't have a problem with it. Scripture shows us that images intended to rightly order our minds and hearts to God are not forbidden.
For those inclined to disagree, I point to Ex 25:18 where God commands that "two cherubim of gold" be fashioned. A few verses later he says he will meet Moses between those two images and speak further with him. In Ex 21:33-34 God commands that images and adornments be placed on priestly vestments. In Num 21:8 God commands Moses to make an image of a serpent. That serpent is later broken, but only after it was used as an idol (2 Kg 18:4). In the 6th chapter of 1st Kings we find Solomon's temple filled with carvings and graven images yet a few chapters later (9:3) we read that God has consecrated this temple and promises "my heart will be there for all time." Would he consecrate a temple of idols?
Ah, so that's how one judges another's level of christian faith..........got it!
I don’t condemn the mentally ill, I condemn the liberals who are responsible for them being put out and left on the streets! I agree that MOST sane individuals, excluding atheists, muslims and liberals, would not attack a church or religious articles.
My point was that folks who wish to break up statues “pick on Catholics” because that’s where the statues are.
So you think Christians are justified going around destroying other people's property?
AB, I got your point :) Mine was that many nonCatholic churches have “graven images” in their sanctuaries too. These (stained glass windows, for example) are sometimes vandalized so I wondered whether the charge of idolatry (post 9) applies to nonCatholic images too. Peace be with you.
