Word For The Day, Monday, 3/11/13
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
arrogate; verb
verb (used with object), ar·ro·gat·ed, ar·ro·gat·ing. 1. to claim unwarrantably or presumptuously; assume or appropriate to oneself without right: to arrogate the right to make decisions. 2. to attribute or assign to another; ascribe.
Etymology: 1530s, from L. arrogatus, pp. of arrogare "to claim for oneself" (see arrogance).
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.

Practice makes perfect.....post on....
ay caramba! A+++
It is 51 and sunny here, but it was cold enough for me to have on a flannel shirt and a hoodie early this morning in the woods-
Obama’s fawning minions have
Helped him to arrogate a mess-
Whether it was their intention
Is just about anybody’s guess
Maybe they thought sequester
Was a club to beat the masses
Instead they look just foolish
As they rush to cover their asses
Maybe they thought more hardship
Was something we all would fear-
But we’re not frightened by that-
It has already long been here...
excellent A+++ it was chilly this AM but supposed to go up to 60 or so. Rain coming tonight. During the school year i have someone come to walk the dogs. It’s always funny to get my daily email with who produced #1 or #2 !!
Thank you! It is supposed to be 70 or so this afternoon-typical for this time of the year.
Chilly here this morning too but should be mid 60’s by afternoon. Sorry Ti, I know you must be getting sick of snow by now.
Did you see the “sock monkey trick” last night?
I love the idea of getting away from everything, and frontier living in Alaska-but the fact that it is so damn cold for all but 3 months of the year keeps me here
was that something at the Pens game? we were watching Flyers-Sabres.
Yes, it was a giveaway item that was thrown on the ice when Kunitz got the HT.
i love sock monkeys and think that they are far too cute to throw on the ice no matter what!
Well there is no disputing that the Borgias, who if i am not mistaken, were Aragoneses, were arrogant!
Totally agree! lol A great get away is the mountains of northern New Mexico in July.....;^)
I love New Mexico-my first husband was from there, and we spent a lot of time there when we were married. Unfortunately, there are too many liberal imports in Santa Fe and other nice places for me to want to live there-if I were to relocate, it would be to Alaska, where I could live in peace and run a roadside business, cold or no...
What kind of roadside business? I imagine there’s not a lot of through traffic up there.
I don’t know, exactly-I suppose selling whatever natural foods, etc can be grown in a greenhouse in the great white north...
I know what I want to do if times get better right here-my home-grown veggies and herbs, incense, some religious articles, candles, etc. Maybe one day expand it to include homeopathic stuff. In either place, I’d need to rent a stall at a market-I don’t like to live on a main drag.
Dem-o arrogato, Mr. Obamao
good one.
