Word For The Day, Monday, 3/11/13
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
arrogate; verb
verb (used with object), ar·ro·gat·ed, ar·ro·gat·ing. 1. to claim unwarrantably or presumptuously; assume or appropriate to oneself without right: to arrogate the right to make decisions. 2. to attribute or assign to another; ascribe.
Etymology: 1530s, from L. arrogatus, pp. of arrogare "to claim for oneself" (see arrogance).
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Here is my example with WFTD.
Amusing how the MSM is attempting to arrogate the title of "head of the GOP" to various people, without having the slightest idea of who actual republicans might view as their head.

Arrogate — the sensational cheating scandal in the archery events at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
I just noticed the Latin origins as well. Yet, I was always taught that the word “Arrogant” can from the Spanish Family.
W.S. Gilbert must have also thought the same, as in the Opera “Patience” the Soldier sings of:
“The Family Pride of a Spaniard from Aragon”.
Very Interesting.....
you will have to resubmit the homework, ARROGATE is a verb, ARROGANT may have been what you were looking for there?
