I just noticed the Latin origins as well. Yet, I was always taught that the word “Arrogant” can from the Spanish Family.

W.S. Gilbert must have also thought the same, as in the Opera “Patience” the Soldier sings of:

“The Family Pride of a Spaniard from Aragon”.

Very Interesting.....

well the word arrogate is from Latin, not sure about the derivation of arrogant. are my students not reading the word i have written on the board this AM for WFTD? ; )
