These people are under continual disquietudes, never enjoying a minutes peace of mind; and their disturbances proceed from causes which very little affect the rest of mortals. Their apprehensions arise from several changes they dread in the celestial bodies: for instance, that the earth, by the continual approaches of the sun towards it, must, in course of time, be absorbed, or swallowed up; that the face of the sun, will, by degrees, be encrusted with its own effluvia, and give no more light to the world; that the earth very narrowly escaped a brush from the tail of the last comet, which would have infallibly reduced it to ashes; and that the next, which they have calculated for one-and-thirty years hence, will probably destroy us. ... - Lemuel Gulliver

We said 15 years ago something like a Dalton Minimum or Maunder Minimum would occur about 2011-2013. Now these so-called experts act like the whole thing was “unexpected” and inexplicable. The time is long past when these peter Principle graduates need to be given assistance to find employment elsewhere.

Experts have been baffled by the apparent lack of activitywith many wondering if NASA simply got it wrong.
So much for the apparent knowledge of our universe, and our scientist "EXPERTS". They're government employees don't you know.

The multitudes at NASA can’t believe their god, CAGW, has failed. Maybe if we sacrifice a few more goats, a few more lumps of coal, a few more miles per gallon, the gods will restore the sun’s power, and make the earth hot, again. Then we will smite the heathen deniers with our consensus.

“baffled “
When Nature doesn’t perform the way humans want it to, they are baffled.
I’m never baffled. I stand in awe at the wonders of the world and the universe, and know that the mind of man is not capable of fully understanding it all.
And I have no use for the arrogant who think that they are right on the verge of finally definitely understanding it all.
