The man did not specify scope or iron sights, or type of mounts if it was a scope.
Zero range is a personal preference thing. I use a 300m zero ofr iron sights. Many scopes have ballistic reticles as I am sure you know that are intended to be zeroes at 100 and the markings used for holdover beyond that.
The OP would have to fill in more info to be picky about things.

Try the 25m AQT targets from Fred’s (www.fredsm14stocks.com).

30-06? Doesn’t qualify as a real rifle for those of us wh shoot .45-70. Maybe a long barreled pistol with stock for sissy’s...

Got a Marlin 1894 in .44 Rem magnum, after some trigger work, one of my favorite open sight rifles.

My 94 is the real deal. My grandpappy used it to guard his land claim in a Oklahoma land rush in the 1890’s. Can’t remember exactly which one. Family heirloom to be passed down the the youngest son of each generation.
Shoots damn good although is was used on the family farm for 45 years.

Oldest I got is a 65 year old Winchester pump 16 gauge shotgun.
Getting harder and harder to find shells for it, wouldn't part with it for the world.

I like the older guns with wood. Not into plastic like my younguns are.
Got a Winchester pump in 12ga. They make damn good guns.
I heard 16ga was getting hard to find. Save what hulls you got and reload? Gun shows?

25 yard sight-in will shoot high every time because of the natural rise just after the bullet leaves the muzzle.

With all due respect, a public forum is not a good place to be discussing your firearms and their needs. You do understand the Federal government is in the process of locating, and documenting ALL firearms in this country for future confiscation? Federal Firearm Registry Data Base. Where do you think they are getting that info on YOUR firearms?Whoops! Didn't you just tell them you have firearms?
