Wow. Just saw a real life UFO. Southern Colorado. It happened around 8:25 P.M. On the way home and I saw a bright orange light off to the east. It looked like the top third of a really orange moon rising very fast from behind a cloud except there are no clouds tonight and there is no moon. It pulsed slowly on and then off. I pulled over and got out. No sound. Looked to be, and this is my best guess, about 10 to 15 thousand feet up and elongated. Seemed to be between me and the Sangre De Cristo mountains which are 25 miles east. Looked to be 1/4 to half a mile long. winked out and then 3 bright orange lights appeared suddenly spaced a couple of miles apart and a little to the south of the first one and moving slowly south. They went out and then one large orange light with a flashing red light appeared way to the southeast. It pulsed on and off six times at a steady pace over a 15 second period hanging motionless and then went out and reappeared several miles miles farther south. It pulsed off and on one more time and then shot sideways at incredible speed and stopped somewhere near the New Mexico line which is about 50 miles south. My 13 year old son saw it too. It is a crystal clear night without a cloud in the sky and no trees to block the view. I know you can't take my word for it but maybe some other Freepers in Southern Colorado saw it too. Dang it was the strangest thing I have ever seen and I am 100 percent certain it was no plane or helicopter. Whatever it was it must have one heck of an inertial dampening system.
Speaking of Spokane, in 1979 I was in Post Falls and watched a “craft” moving west about 500’ off the ground and about a 1/4 mile away moving west towards Spokane at a ground speed of 50 +/- mph (slower than the highway traffic). It was a quiet December winter night between 8pm and 9pm with snow on the ground which made it lighter than normal. No lights visible on the “craft”. What caught my attention was a low pitch hum. No wings, oval shaped and dimentions relative to a 747 as far as length to width ratio. I’ve always wished I had a camera.
Were you west of the Sand Dunes? Theres been a lot of weird things happen around there (Music Pass area) over the years.
Can you elaborate on how you figured the size of the object? How were you to estimate its size? Could it have been much closer to you than you thought?
And were these things hard objects, or only lights as far as your vision could tell? Was there any indication these were solid objects?
Thanks,
Former MUFON investigator
I was directly west of the sand dunes 25 miles. The first light appeared to be between us and the mountains and a little south of the sand dunes. I could just make out the tops of the mountains against the faint glow from Pueblo and the lights appeared to be well above the tops of the mountains but also between me and the mountains. While this was going on there were a couple of commercial airplanes flying high above. They seemed much higher. It looked to be about the width of the rising moon when it is just coming up over the mountains and that is what I thought it was at first until I realized it was too high in the sky and that the moon wasn’t rising. It seemed to be roiling a little on the bottom edge. It was so strange that it was shocking. It was roughly rectangular and 5 times as long as it was tall. It was gone so fast that I really couldn’t tell if it had a definite shape. It appeared to rise up and then descend back down before winking out. It wasn’t bright like a shooting star or a search light on a helicopter. It looked more like a flame. It was uniformly bright and about the color of a flame or a sodium vapor light. It did not seem close and it didn’t seem any farther than the mountains so that is why I am guessing 10-15 miles out.
I got the best look at the one that was farther south. It slowly pulsed 6 times in about 15 seconds and it was the same orange color with a distinct red flash mixed in towards the top. It looked circular. The pulse was very regular like a lighthouse lamp getting dim and then bright. It appeared to be over the mountains just south of La Veta Pass . It disappeared and then reappeared almost instantly further south before darting sideways stopping again I’m estimating around the New Mexico line or around Questa, NM.
Yeah, I would believe that it was some kind of military experiment before I would believe it was and alien ship.
1999 dusk in Annandale NJ 5 lights coming from the east, then circling so I pulled all my neighbors out of the house...We starred and starred...1 kid couldn’t sleep for a week....I ran inside, dialed “0” and asked for NASA in Washington...LOL....Was sent to Kennedy Space Center....LOL..Was told to report this to my local sheriff...I drank beer and played pool with my local sheriff....LOL..Everyone was at least impressed that I got transferred to KSC.
Herbert!
“So jealous. I have always wanted to see one. Cool.”
Yeah Cool! As long as you’re not too close. Then it’s quite scary.
Watch the 1993 film “Fire in the Sky”.
I think you saw something cool, but it's most likely the military doing something.
That’s my first thought. Jet in afterburner, and our flares coming down through a cloud deck.
Get in line.
A client called up asking us to do some interesting work in a neat place. All the while I was thinking about who to send I was also thinking, “Pick me! Pick me!”
Are you absolutely sure you didn’t identify it?
My co-worker is an ex military cop. He told me about his UFO incident. I thought he was coming clean because I’ve known him years and he never mentioned it. Seems he was at a secure facility one night and a “flying saucer” flew over head. He got a good look at it as it hovered over the facility he was guarding then took off at high speeds.
He says the base lit up with alarms and cops running all over the place. He says the UFO was just a model aircraft that some one had covered with tin foil to look like a saucer. He had me going for a while.
Interesting!
If you had to estimate speed during the "darting" how fast. Or to put it another way, how many degrees of arc would you estimate it traversed during that dart and in what amount of time?" Using your thumb at arm's length to represent roughly 9 or 10 degrees, how many thumbs did it travel? Did it take seconds, less than a second? The speed of a camera flash?
Thanks.
Me too! Not yours, but back in the 60’s. A line of cars pulled over to the side of the road to watch it. The air Force said it was a weather balloon, but a weather balloon never traveled as fast as that thing did, once it quit standing still.
I don’t kmnow if it was from this planet or elsewhere but I am just happy to know I saw it.
I would say the first time it moved 2 thumb lengths. I didn’t see it move that time it was just in one place and then the other. The second time it probably moved 3 thumb lengths and it seemed to leave a trail. It was moving at an angle away from us so it was hard to judge. It was less than a second but slower than a camera flash.
just a coyote with mange.
I thought the same about Tonopah being NV. There's a Tonopah, AZ just west of Phoenix, as well. Just looked it up. I've been to Tonopah, NV, they advertise it as being the home of the stealth fighter...
