A New Mexico multimillionaire wants you to get off the couch and go searching for hidden treasure.
Forrest Fenn, 82, believes too many Americans spend their free time watching TV or playing video games. He hopes the bounty he hid a chest filled with millions of dollars in gold coins, diamonds and emeralds, among other gems will prompt some to explore the outdoors. "Get your kids out in the countryside, take them fishing and get them away from their little hand-held machines," he told TODAY.

THE CLUES:
As I have gone alone in there
And with my treasures bold,
I can keep my secret where,
And hint of riches new and old.
Begin it where warm waters halt
And take it in the canyon down,
Not far, but too far to walk.
Put in below the home of Brown.
From there it’s no place for the meek,
The end is drawing ever nigh;
There’ll be no paddle up your creek,
Just heavy loads and water high.
If you’ve been wise and found the blaze,
Look quickly down, your quest to cease
But tarry scant with marvel gaze,
Just take the chest and go in peace.
So why is it that I must go
And leave my trove for all to seek?
The answers I already know
I’ve done it tired, and now I’m weak
So hear me all and listen good,
Your effort will be worth the cold.
If you are brave and in the wood
I give you title to the gold.
Happy hunting!

Bump to that

Odds are that he did not hide it in Canada, so I’m going back to my video games.
I left a kidney and my spleen in NM.

Wanna bet where all those illegal aliens they just let out of prison will be congregating, when they hear about this?
Sounds like a wild goose chase to me.
Dry arroyos are just about the most dangerous thing there, besides the sun, lack of water, too much water, poisonous plants and animals, large carnivores, haunta virus, plague, drunk indians, democratic government and... what the heck, the whole place is just dangerous.
But I do know where to buy cheap cigarettes and booze in the state. And where to get some great food.

I wonder if I can find it from home with google maps & the satellite layer turned on... :-)
Weird. I got a kidney and my spleen in NM. Thanks...uhh...bro...except that kidney was stoned...I couldn't pee a straight line for 2 months.
Doc said I looked like a gut shot deer when he opened me up. Said the organs looked like jelly on that side.
Never do a slip/fall off the side of a mountain in a blizzard when you are alone. I disrecommend the experience. Really, really.

From his 'hints' poem, I think I've a pretty good idea where it is - and it won't be easy to get there - it's a long way from home.
My bet though, is that there are a lot of people like me that can figure this one out - but, all of them will need a good metal detector - and a spade to dig it up. The trick is where to wave that detector around.
And up until a point, I did ok in NM, learning to be careful (except for that one time).
NM ain't all strip malls and a town 3 miles down the road, that's for sure.
I think the guy set up a Darwin test. ;)
NM is one of the most beautiful places I've ever lived, even if it did try to kill me. I've done most of my landscape painting of NM landscapes.

haha. You forgot to use that long gun as a ski pole. Just kidding.
Ya musta been younger then. Everbody knows not to BE on the mountain in a blizzard alone, unless you are the one bringing up the beer on the pack horses. Cause fer damn sure there will be a search party...
“Put in below the home of Brown.

OMG it’s in my septic tank!
I shall share a secret with you now, and this is just between the two of us, okay? I stepped in a massive hidden treasure earlier today in the great outdoors while romping through a brushy leaf covered trail near the hidden stream I know well. It didnt occur to me just then that I may in fact be rich. But I think I am the lucky one, for this buried gem was brown and its odor indeed was bold. Little did I know.
Please dont tell Obama of my good fortune.
