The USA ran on tariffs for 80 years upon its founding. The income tax replaced tariffs, so are you pro 16th amendment?

I guess you are unaware that it was protectionists, like yourself, who were responsible for enacting the 16th Amendment.

Protectionist tariffs remained the bedrock of economic policy of the Republican Party for the next 20 years. Indeed, Republicans were so intent on passing the Payne-Aldrich tariff in 1909 that President William Howard Taft supported the 16th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution creating a federal income tax as the political price for Democratic support of the tariff.

The government managed trade you are so enthusiastic for, with all the instituted restrictions & barriers and economic liberties lost, is the very socialism you accuse others of wanting. To me, free trade is fundamental to capitalism. It is the voluntary exchange of goods and services between two or more parties so that each party walks away from the exchange in better shape than they were before the transaction. Why anyone would have a problem with that is a mystery, but here you are.....
