The President’s got nothing to worry about. Heck, we don’t even know he’s foreign or domestic!
While I’m confident that 70% to 80% of Marines despise the socialist usurper, disarming them was unnecessary. The vast majority of Marines have a high level of integrity and would not harm the drug-addled petty tyrant, or worse, risk collateral damage to decent Americans who might be there against their will.
Just wondering. Did Marines in past such parades routinely carry functional weapons and live ammunition? Somehow I doubt it.
My understanding is that live ammo is carefully controlled in the military and always has been. A significant contributor in the Ft. Hood massacre, which was essentially in a gun-free zone.

I don’t think the ceremonial rifles they carry are operational anyway. Pretty sure they don’t draw weapons and ammunition from the Batallion armorer. Still, it says a lot that it has been noticed now, with this pres—ent, for the first time.

From what I’ve read, this is a ceremonial Marine unit that does almost nothing but Drill And Ceremony. At least one article suggested that the Marines did it themselves, as a subtle message to those who noticed.
How about his security detail? Do their weapons have loaded magazines or are they just human shields?

Forgetting for the moment the discussion about Obama’s attitude towards the military, it strikes me as just plain dumb to disarm military personnel in these situations. If some terrorist group was planning an attack during a public event such as this, wouldn’t it embolden them to know that the military in attendance were unarmed, and therefore were not in a position to take action to stop them?
A CIC who is afraid of his own troops. What’s wrong with that picture?
I find this to be both shocking and disgusting.
