Police officer Kyle Jones of La Porte, Texas, shut down a highway on a rainy day to help a small dog find its way home.
Unbeknown to Officer Jones, a nearby motorist took a photo of the officer's kindhearted gesture. A short time later, the photo of Officer Jones attempting to wrangle the stubborn little pooch was at the top of the popular social network Reddit.
KHOU 11 News has more details. Cujo, the dog, had escaped his home on Monday morning. One of his owners, Jeremy Zapalac, organized a search party in the neighborhood. But after an hour, it started to rain. "He hates water," Zapalac said of the rat terrier.
The dog had wandered over to a nearby highway. Fortunately, Officer Jones saw the small dog, stopped his car (and traffic), and generally went the extra mile to make sure he got home safely.

Thanks to the good LEO.
He should be an instructor.
The dog’s name is Cujo?
See, I told ya coppers luvd dognuts and dogs!
Awww, what a cutie!
yeah, i hope they don’t demote him for not following protocol and shooting the dog.
Why not?...I have a friend with a Pom named Rambo, lol.
(come to think of it the name kinda fits, in his mind he is a bull mastiff).
He could have justified it easily as endangering motorists...
There are many here at FR who despise police.
There are many here at FR who are or know police; it is a common profession for returning veterans.
Therein lies the rub. Some of the sketchiest I’ve known and the noblest I’ve known were in law enforcement.
I tend to distrust government officials but just like post-Viet Nam, many of our veteran Patriots from the military are finding employment in Law Enforcement or Corrections.
I, for one, would endeavour at first, at least, to assist the county sheriffs in maintaining order in a social upheaval.
That's the understatement of the month.
Even more despise dogs!
I’ve been around it my whole career. There are different cultures in different places.
Jesus praised the faith of the Centurion; it is not an ignoble profession of neccessity. God ordains order.
As with any profession, the corrupt and groundless defame it.
I submit that is not most LEO’s. Be cautious and respectful while holding to your rights and you will likely not have any issues.
Around my parts, at least. For now.
Only because of the movie and the Saint Bernard that goes berserk because of rabies.
i would in my area because i trust my sheriff, sheriff david clarke.
I got both dogs and cats and they both piss me off...
The dogs are cool until I go to bed and they need to rock off at some threatening coyote(s) a half-mile away and the cats need to jump up on everything in the shop in search of “mice” that are nowhere close.
But, I still feed them all and pet them in the morning.
Sounds like enabling, co-dependent behavior on my part...
“The dogs name is Cujo?”
Also my cousin’s dog’s name before he shipped out to S Korea. The dog was a poodle terrier. My classmate in HS also was named Cujo. It’s kinda common.
Our next dog will be named Obama and we’ll try to train the dog in a liberal park to piss off liberals. “Fetch obama!”
Ya, we are the good guys they can count on!
Patriots are not anarchists, like Occupy-whatever. We support Constitutional order and attendant societal structure and manners.
Straight up.
Dogs, especially rescue dogs, despise people in uniform, especially police. I tried to reason with my dog about it, but he wouldn’t listen.
That’s one less dog available to Obama to put in a burger.
