And here come the dogs !!!
Beautiful Doberman! :-) gorgeous !
Funny thing is, I [as usual] ignored last year’s show and caught it last night as a rerun.
I kept looking at her and thinking “Damn, she looks familiar.”
So, I looked her up and checked her bloodlines and darn if CH Eagle’s Devil D isn’t all over her pedigree, just like Halla.
That’s what my brat is gonna look like, someday.
[but I still prefer “heavy metal” Euro Dobes]..:)
Herding/working/field trials are usually wildy divorced from conformation shows.
Compare working Labs/Border Collies/Rough Collies/any Spaniel to what you see in the ring.
They look like totally different breeds, sometimes.
“Over there, if at least one parent does not have at least one *working* title, it is not allowed to breed.”
I like that.
“A pox upon the breeders and judges who have condemned them to hip dysplasia as *puppies* for the sake of a dramatic silhouette.”
Pox x 2
I just love their faces. So expressive.
I’m convinced they can talk to us with their eyes
Thanks for sharing a photo of him.
In coursing trials, almost every time, the ‘pet’ will beat the show dog.
Just because it says “AKC”, it doesn’t mean the dog is a ‘perfect conformation specimen’.
The ‘more real’ breed representives generally excel over the show dogs, the only exception being obedience trials because it’s a test of commands and not athletic performance.
Bizarrely, my second Dobermann’s father had a field championship [yes, bird hunting] and my boy could out-hunt and out-point my dad’s obscenely expensive Brittany any day of the week.
Amen.
Nice picture!
She's the Fifinator.
Frankly, it cracks me up.
The AKC is corrupt to the core.
Go through a registration fraud case with them and have them drag their feet, dodge the issue and then *begrudgingly* rescind the dogs’ titles *but* not remove them from the AKC registry.
[and they *never* recalculated/rewarded the points that *should* have gone to the hundreds of dogs "beaten" by illegally registered dogs]
Instead, the misbegotten, fraudulently registered dogs were given the new “yellow papers” that mean after only *3* generations, their get can again show and hold titles, despite the fact that the dogs bloodlines are false and unknown.
They are only after the money.
It’s the dedicated breeders and fanciers who prop up the AKC.
Without them, the AKC would cheerfully keep registering millions of puppy mill dogs and be happy as clams.
People have no idea of the dark underbelly of the AKC.
I have *seen* them at their worst, firsthand.
[which matters much more to me than all the "CH" in front of their names]
Because of that, I have never had to ‘teach’ him to be the ‘bodyguard’ he was created to be.
90% of my other Dobes in my lifetime had to have their latent guarding talents encouraged.
I will never buy another purely American line dog.
Halla is acceptable because her dad is the same sire as Odin's and her dam's lines are the wildly successful Briarwood dogs who are famous for health and longevity.
Having researched their breeding coefficients and respective bloodlines, I intend to have a good looking, very functional litter, someday.
You can disable a GSD by grabbing its tail or ears.
:)
The announcer just said “We don’t always breed dogs to do what they were intended to do. Now we breed them for temperament and as companions”.
Horse’s mouth.
Mine too. LOL
I can’t remember which, but the American breed preferred the low slung while the European breed preferred the straight back or maybe it was the other way around. It was a preference more than anything.
I heard that and am not sure I like it.
That's sad...dogs are SO HAPPY when they are doing what they were bred to do! From day one, Belle wanted nothing more than to hunt birds. She was only about 12 weeks old when the hubby took her out prior to hunting Season just to teach her hand commands.
Within about 15 minutes she had found an old pheasant nest and was jumping up and down with joy (feathers were flying everywhere...LOL!)
Makes for an interesting house dog...just "SLIGHTLY" high-energy. I remember reading up on German Shorthairs when we got her, and one comment stands out: "If you would not find it amusing to walk into a room to find your dog standing on the counter, or on top of a table, a GSP puppy may not be for you!" They are into everything; one of my fondest memories is of Belle charging into the room with a bucket stuck on her head (at full speed of course) straight into the side of a chair.
One of my friends has a male GSP. She came home one day to find him jumping up and down on the bed...having broken open her new down-filled comforter. Feathers were flying all over the room; she said it looked like the inside of a snow globe...she about died laughing while taking pictures of the event. Just gotta love 'em!
Good for you. They also can’t be shown in Crufts or bred unless they have the title Shutsend (sp).
LOL
No, it’s about confirmation.
