The toilet in Greg Kohfeldts auto shop on West Second Street in Florence has traveled the world.
But its chief distinction is that it was once owned by Adolf Hitler, Kohfeldt says.
-snip-
But there still seems to be some kind of allure about a toilet that Hitler may have used that brings people to the shop, he said.
It just grows, Kohfeldt said. It seems like every year something brings it back up and more people stop in about it.
Kohfeldt said on average he will get one or two people a month looking to catch a glimpse of the toilet but after an article or a TV broadcast, the number can jump up to six or 12 people per month.
The infamous toilet has brought people from Boston, Canada and even England, Kohfeldt said.
It brings people from all over, he said. One young lady was pregnant. She wanted to take pictures on the toilet. Asked to come back and take pictures when she had her baby.
Kohfeldt is in the process of installing a new bathroom and once its all done, he said hes going to probably mount the Hitler toilet on a shelf in the bathroom so that people can still come and see it.
For now, remnants of the sink sit in a box off to the side of the garage while the toilet sits sandwiched between a toy bike and auto repair equipment.
Kohfeldt said hed be willing to part with the toilet and broken sink if the price were right. If someone actually had an interest in what is left of the sink and the toilet I would probably sell it, he said. But theyd have to have an interest...if someone is just going to offer me $100, itll sit here forever.

OMGoodness! [giggles] ROFL!! YOMANK!! And monitor!
Where on earth did you find that? It’s a total riot.
Ask YouTube, and ye shall receive.
I’m partial to when Lister goes back in time and gets Hitler’s lunchbox.
He won it in a poker game — he had a straight flush.
Thanks Slings and Arrows.
Remember, Hitler was a vegetarian. There’s been plenty of roughage down that drain. No wonder it’s in pieces.
Eewww... No Ty-D-Bowl in Nazi Germany, huh?
You do know how to accessorize.
LOL! Oh that is brilliant!
Love the handle too! I think we are the only state that refers to them as “jughandles”.
My dad took me to see Bonnie and Clyde’s car when it came here in the 70’s.
Back then, you could touch it, open the doors, poke your fingers into the bullet holes and all.
There was old blood everywhere.
Strange thing for a little girl to see but I never forgot it.
The more time I spend on boats the more I am convinced that the accoutrements, hardware, rigging, etc. of a boat are owned by the boat, and not by the owner of the boat.
Interesting. I saw that car too, maybe 25 years ago. But it was behind glass by that point. Coincidentally it was right next to one of Hitler’s cars in the display.
File it under "N.J. Local Development." This timely purchase represents a 60-70% increase and upgrade in Florence, N.J.'s indoor sanitary arrangements.
Although that fellow in the photo looks so darn proud, he may put it on the front porch.
Just a note to follow up my last comment regarding the Coast Guard’s training ship — I read an article some years ago in the Smithsonian Magazine about the yacht. It was a surprise to me as I had, during one summer vacation, attended an open house and had a tour of the ship. Nothing was mentioned about it’s origin and I assume many people are not aware of it.
