"In order to take care of as many customers as possible, starting Thursday, January 24, all ammunition sales were limited to three boxes per customer, per day as supply is limited at this time," spokeswoman Ashley Hardie told Reuters on Wednesday.

Yep. My local farm supply store has been out of .22s for MONTHS and we’re having a hard time getting ‘stingers’ for shooting troublesome coyote around here! I was FINALLY able to make a purchase through a private source, but just plain old 40 grain Remington .22s.
I’m kind of thinking that the retailers/manufacturers are LOVING this ‘supply and demand’ stuff. ;)
Standard everywhere. Here in relatively effete liberal suburbia (Alexandria and Burke in Northern Virginia) there’s nothing to be found outside of some .17HMR and maybe a few boxes of shotshells (mostly 20 gauge).
One of the consequences of the huge Federal purchases.
This is a regular occurance when there’s a run on ammo.
I noticed the local Wal-Mart was out of just about every kind of ammo. There did not seem to be a shortage of rifles and shotguns. They even had a Mossberg Rifle on clearance.
Usually this area does not respond much to national trends but it sure is now.
I guess we can buy ammunition from foreign suppliers and have it shipped? Anyone know about that?

**** “The three box limit would get me exactly zero at my locat Walmart. Shelves are empty.” ****
Empty here too ... I still check every-time I’m there anyway
TT
Same here. Checked at the Farm Store where I purchase my ammo normally. Nothing but shotgun shells and some .38 Special.
Yep. I don’t know if it was corporate imposed or just local, but back during that .380 shortage, my local Wally was limiting everyone to two boxes at a time. Everyone knew the truck came in on Tuesday night, so they were hovering around the sporting goods desk on Wednesday morning, lol.
Double edged sword
High demand + no supply = zero sales
I would be afraid to hazard a guess on the legality of that. Someone here will certainly know and advise. I check a bunch of the on-line sources here in the USA, but even they are dry on many popular calibers.
Anyone else suspicious of all these short supply stories? I believe the short supply part, it’s the why I am wondering about. I think the ammo is what they will go after. No ammo mentioned in the 2nd. These SOB’s, never. Rest.Never
So the Feds made a huge purchase of 22’s and 22 Mag’s? They must have bought up all the 243 and 270 ammo also.
Wish I could spare you some stingers. I have a very few, and all the rest is Federal 36 gr hollow points. I shot a few at the range yesterday, and almost felt wasteful, lol.
Yup, same here.
Had to run to Academy Sporting goods 30 miles away, had some 9mm fmj target stuff, had some .44 mag fmj no hollow points, no 30-30, no 30-.06, no .22.
Stocked up on what I could, slim pickin's at big bucks.
Said another shipment could be in Thursday.....Added maybe, but wasn't sure.
Bingo. Was in one of my local Wallyworlds yesterday to pick up a couple boxes of .308s and was disappointed to see there were only about 4 boxes of ammo of some kind left on the shelf, not my type of course.
I have a friend who works at Walmarts and he said that as soon as the shipments come in, they are sold out with in the hours. People are stocking up.
No bullets to be found anyplace in East Texas, except the usual deer cartridges, shotgun shells, etc.
