Two teenage girls have been arrested in a violent subway assault on a 55-year-old man, punching him in the head in an attack that sent the victim to the hospital, police said.
According to police, the two teens were on a northbound 4 train departing Utica Avenue in Brooklyn at about 1 p.m. when they encountered a man and became aggressive with him, police said. The nature of the dispute wasn't immediately clear.
Police say the teenagers became violent and attacked the 55-year-old man, punching him in the face and head. Video of the incident showed the man eventually punching back in an attempt to defend himself.
The victim, Charles Bunn, was taken to Kings County Hospital with multiple cuts to the face and head.
The teens, identified as 18-year-old Chantelif Solano and 17-year-old Shaquana Rhem, were arrested on the corner of Franklin Avenue and Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn and charged with assault.
They are both awaiting arraignment. Attorney information wasn't immediately available.
Oh - Chantelif and Shaquana........
Holder’s people, of course.
Tie ‘em to trees and whip ‘em bloody!
“Chantelif and Shaquana.”
If obama had two more daughters....
NBC seems to be going out of its way in this article to not tell us the attackers’ gender.
Damned Amish strike again! Those are German names, right?
H0lder’s peeps.
That’s some “Great Society” we got now, ain’t it?
I can see why they are so against concealed carry in particular and guns in general in NYC...fewer Obama voters.
Too bad Bernie Getz was not on the scene.
Let me guess. An old white guy who dared set foot on a subway in Brooklyn at the wrong time of day.
I am tired of media calling the perpetrators of these events anything but black...it is a word that they will not use. They aren’t fooling anyone.
They’re lucky they weren’t named Gonah Reeia and Clia Media.
He got a couple of really good punches in. He should’ve kicked them both in the groin, or grab their hair and slam their faces directly into his knee.
Victim was a black guy
Two “teens”?
Caught trying to conceal race, the times betrays itself by releasing names. They’ll have to do better, and just assign generic names.
Chantelif and Shaquana are really dumb. All they have to do is say the White guy called them a bad name and they’ll go scot free.
The race war has already started.
These “kids” are always primed to go off. The guy might have accidently bumped into one of them (they usually sprawl their legs out into the aisle), for example, and not apologized in a way they thought was sufficient. Or maybe he even asked if they could move; it looked like he had been trying to get off the train or at any rate was standing near the door.
They’re always angry. They get up in the morning angry, they’re angry all day, and it takes nothing to set them off.
“Two teenage girls “ The gender is in the first 3 words of the article.
I'm rather large (particularly compared to the Japanese) but not particularly intimidating unless I have to be.
On one morning commute, we had one of the 20is bosozoku (motorcycle gang) types seated in a crowded subway car and, as it turned a corner and shifted, a middle aged guy accidentally stepped on his outstretched feet.
Even though the guy quickly apologized, the seated bosozoku begin to get really belligerent. The Japanese in the area started moving as far away as possible from the brat as it looked like a pending fight. I don't like fights but I don't like bullies either. So as they moved away, I worked myself toward him. Just as he was about to get up and take a swing at the guy, I firmly placed my size 12 foot on his size 8 and said (in Japanese) "He apologized. Let it go or I'll get you off at the next stop to visit with subway security!"
He quickly sank back into his seat and behaved himself until my stop four or five stations later. I have seen subway security work in far less serious incidents than this (such as a belligerent drunk). The usually have four or five fairly burly cops with truncheons board the car a few stops later and quickly take the perp off the train. What happens after that, I'm not sure. But I do know that the Japanese do not like their train schedules disrupted even by the less than 60 seconds or so which it takes to remove one of these perps.
