WEST HILLS [California] (CBSLA.com) A 9-year-old claims a classmate broke her armand another girls armduring an after-school program at an elementary school in West Hills.
Kaylee Cottrell, who attends Hamlin Street Elementary School, said she was playing tag with a 10-year-old boy and her friend last Thursday when the boy became violent.
First, he shoved (my friend) into the window, so I jumped in and told him to stop, she said.
Kaylee said when she tried to protect her friend, the boy told her, What are you gonna do about it?
Then he pushed me against the table and hit me, she said. He took my arm, he twisted it, pulled back, and then pulled up.
A supervisor, who students call a coach, was outside playing kickball when the girls were injured.
I told him. I asked for an ice pack and he said, No, your arm looks fine, Kaylee said.
The Los Angeles Unified School District confirmed the incident to KCAL9′s Serene Branson and said the supervisor was terminated.
Tiffany Cottrell, Kaylees mother, said the district needs to do more to discipline the young boy.
Something has to happen. He brutally attacked these girls. This wasnt just kids playing, she said. To this day, the boy has not been suspended. Hes only (been suspended) from the after-school program. Hes still in her class.
Kaylee said, I feel scared. I feel like Im going to get hurt again.
On Tuesday, Branson reported that parents were upset they werent notified by Hamlin Street administrators about the assault.
The adults said theyd like the 10-year-old to seek counseling or be removed from the school.
Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s one of those violent Amish kids.
Kids rough house and sometimes they get hurt. The girl should stick to girl games with other girls...
One thing is certain: if he isn’t, the probability of you returning to this thread is zero.
I have seen stories where boys accused of rape are treated this way too
I be back!
“... the girl should stick to girl games with other girls...”
You’re right... I mean she is the one playing tag.. an obvious he-man sport. Rough housing does include twisting an arm and then pulling it up till it breaks, right? Sheesh...
Doubt it.
It’s unbelievable how violently and rough these kids from the inner city play during recess. And the fights they get into - every day! Young kids, 8 and 9 years old. They play something called “Zipper” where one kid will stand at one end of a large bank of swings, and the kids start swinging at different paces. The kid will run from one end to the other, between the kids on swings and try not to get hit by them. It’s dangerous as hell because the kids on the swings go as high and hard as they can, hoping to take the kid out when he runs by. They chase each other constantly and hit and push each other when they “tag” them. None of this is allowed, btw, but they do it when they can get away with it.
It’s weird. It used to be that boys were taught not to hit girls.
The girls should just have said that he made his fingers like a gun and said bang which would have caused his immediate suspension!
Yes, but that was before rap music.
“It used to be that boys were taught not to hit girls.”
That was back when girls were the weaker sex. Yea... I remember that from my youth. That perception has changed over the last five or six decades
Notice that our sectary of defense just approved women for front line combat just today.
I will try to treat my 6’1” 200lb female Olympic athlete female cousin more like a fragile flower.
” Rough housing does include twisting an arm and then pulling it up till it breaks, right? Sheesh...”
It works for guys when they rough house. There’s a lot of pressure on boys to treat girls the same as other boys.
Well that's easier to believe than the two girls broke their own arms...
There is a difference between a fragile flower and having basic respect for a lady. It doesn’t matter how athletic and built she is. You probably know not to rough house by breaking her arm.
Nowhere in the story is it confirmed that any arms were broken or even injured.
