Sen. Rand Paul accused House Republican leaders of having retreated in the face of a confrontation with President Barack Obama, criticizing their decision to vote on raising the U.S. debt ceiling this week during a speech in South Carolina Monday night.
In remarks to the Charleston Meeting, a gathering of conservative leaders in the first-in-the-South presidential primary state, Paul rebuked the House for its plans to delay the debt limit fight by a few months. Republicans intend to vote this week on raising the countrys statutory debt limit to delay a spending standoff with the White House by about three months.
I saw the speaker on TV handing the newly sworn-in president a flag. I am afraid it was the white flag of surrender, the Kentucky Republican said, according to a GOP source present at the meeting.
Alluding to the House GOPs gathering last week in Williamsburg, Va., Paul jabbed: They came out of their retreat and retreated.
Pauls Inauguration Day remarks are the latest indication that hes staking out an unrelenting, small-government position in the Republican Party as he weighs a national campaign in 2016. The Kentuckian voted against a fiscal cliff deal earlier this month that a huge majority of Senate Republicans supported.
In South Carolina Monday, he spoke at length about the need to home in on spending and debt as the countrys chief challenges. His remarks on the debt ceiling put him squarely on the conservative, confrontational side of the GOPs internal debate over how aggressively to use the borrowing limit as leverage against the White House. Obama has said he will not negotiate over the debt ceiling and Democrats have derided Republicans as hostage-takers for threatening to trigger a national default.

The American citizens are attempting to do the right things by voting, calling, writing their reps...to no avail.
We slowly move toward an all encompassing federal behemoth.
What to do? What to do?
Bonehead’s Republican Machine of Progress has one forward gear and 10 reverse gears.
He is slime.
He is mush.
He is an idiot.
He is stupid.
He has no b*lls.
He has no morals.
He has nothing, save a legacy of shame and surrender.
Boehner, get into your car...while it’s in a garage.
And start it, you complete piece of Obamstuff.
“In an article in Slavic Review in 1973, Richard Pipes wrote that when the Soviets probed their enemies, they would continue pushing if they struck butter but would stop when they struck iron. In his inaugural address yesterday, Obama seemed to show that he thinks he has struck butter.”
If that’s the case, Obama is correct. The current crop of Republicans are politicians of the worst sort. They seek only one thing, to keep their cushy jobs. The Republicans want to feed from the public trough as long as possible.
It’s a self defeating plan for the Republicans. The mere existence of Republicans disgusts the left, and particularly disgusts the media. The Republicans will be Alinsky’ed. In a few years, to be a Republican will be as well received as being a KKK member. And Republicans will be gerrymandered out of existence.
But Boehner, Cantor, and Ryan will all retire with generous pensions, and fat bank accounts. Tough luck for the rest of us.
LOL! He is pathetic!
Rand Paul for President!

Which is???
Paul is definitely staking out the conservative side of the argument from the GOP’s perspective. Meannwhile, Bonehead is waiving the surrender flag. We need this guy as speaker of the house as much as a moose needs a hat rack. I was made more certain about that when Rove yesterday advised Bonehead is doing a smart thing by allowing a debt limit to be increased.
Would I be crass to point out Rand Paul is a Senator? What would he know about the machinations leading up to the vote in the House?
There were statements made that Boehner threatened people. Name names.
You think Senators don’t have the dirt on what goes on in the House? Did you skip High school?
I’ll pay more attention to Rand Paul when and if he finds the courage to deny unanimous consent, which would do a lot to flummox Harry Reid.
Words are cheap.
