About the only thing we can do is deliver lousy ratings to the news orgs--including Fox News. The advertisers will notice.

You only hurt ratings if you are signed up with Neilson. They don’t know what you watch if you are not submitting stuff to Neilson or have a Nielson monitor box.

And Obama knows nobody wants to watch, and that's what's called a Narcissistic Injury. What hurts a narcissist the worst is when nobody watches. And the networks find it hard to claim an audience when the seats are empty.
But it's just a suggestion, gesture to make when there's not much else to do on his day.
