I bet you some Japanese businessman with too much money and not enough sense would have paid thousands for one of these live.
When I was a kid there was a creek near my house that we all went crawfishing in. One winter about a thousand foot-long goldfish miraculously appeared. I guess somebody must have cleaned out their Koi pond.
How is that different from the thousands I’ve seen in koi ponds?
Personally, if I were that guy I would have released the fish. I certainly wouldn't want a big goldfish hanging on the wall for my buddies to laugh at.
If he wants a mounted fish, then go after the muskies which are getting in the neighborhood of 55" and 50+ lbs in the lake......

I bet you some Kenyan Emporer with not enough sense may issue an executive order, confiscate it, put his seal on it and proclaim that it is worth a trillion dollars.
Touche’, dude!
CARP
I tried to catch one of these with my bare hands at the edge of a lake.. No luck! Quicker than they look! I HAVE caught golden carp in the Yakima river 4 times this size.. Dragged my entire rod and reel into the river and caught it all back WITH the fish about two hours later!!!
Same type of fish really. There are several colors and various shapes but I believe they are all a type of carp.

Around here we refer to them as....carp. They are pests.

Given the photo I could picture one of those Daffy Duck fish that stomps out the water, breaks the rod and smacks it over your head...
I pulled one that big or more from Meramec State Park decades ago, fishing for trout.
I’d have tried to keep it alive and then went looking for a Holiday Inn Kareoke Bar with some Japanese bidnessmen in it!
Did you happen to lick a frog before you saw this fish?
Wow! What’s your secret?
mumble mumble mumble.
What? I can’t understand a word you said!
*spits something into hand* Ya gotta keep the worms warm!
I caught a fish like that with my bare hands one night.
The Japanese lady that owned the restaurant was not pleased.
Made me put it back.
Online you’ll find a popular recipe for carp:
Pre-heat stove to 250 degrees.
Scale, gut and clean carpl
Nail fish to a pine board.
Slow cook for 12 hours.
Throw away the fish, eat the board.
The guy in the photo is putting on a rather koi smile. Looks fishy to me.
But at least his wife won’t be carping at him. He’ll no longer have to give her some line when he want’s to hook up with the guys for fishin’.
She knows the reel truth now. No one will de-bait him on that.
I guess I’ll just tackle another thread now.
“Throw away the fish, eat the board.”
LOL!! Exactly!
