Must’ve been that thinning disease.
He paid to have all of his shows digitized and donated them to Chapman College.
I realize that many on FR, slammed him because they said he was a homosexual (or so they suspected), his shows were still fantastic either way.
A brutal way to die. My father and two friends went that way and it was not nice.

Met him at an ECV event in Mojave, and he even knew something about the story of what we were there to commemorate with a California state historical marker. Very nice man. Well, rest in peace Huell.
Good tribute here:

MUST SEE!
Get tissues and watch 7 minutes of some of the best television ever recorded (and what originally got me hooked on Huell Howser’s stories).

RIP Huell.
May the Lord receive his soul.
Huell Howser was a national treasure. It was impossible not to sit down and watch his “on the road” travel shows once the sound of his friendly voice floated your way. The man could bring alive and make interesting any town, any person, any site and any event in history. He liked people and they liked him. He clearly enjoyed life and people and loved to explore the wonder and integrity of people’s work and avocations. I’m glad to read that all the shows have been digitized for the continued education and enjoyment of all.
