I once killed a squirrel for persistantly taking flying leaps into my hanging bird feeder. I shot it to death with my pellet gun, it was not an easy death for the squirrel, it took about a minute and three hits for it to die. It scolded me the whole time too.
I felt bad for it after. It was just being a squirrel after all. I then put some seeds on the ground and in the feeder so the squirrels could gorge on the ground. Their laziness and access to food prevented further flying leaps.
We are able to live peacefully now.
(wow) LOL!
Rush told the same story today only it was a hawk that ate him.
I suppose that the squirrel was trying to get a drink. I had never seen one drink water before last week and caught sight of one of the neighborhood critters drinking from the pool. Since my dog likes the salty water, I guess the squirrels are attracted too.
That video was hilarious. Have you seen it? The guy goes “Oh No! Noooooooooo!” LOL!
Good story, and good deed, reminds me of my childhood and all the nursing of the little creatures and damaged animals.
I once saved a little snake that had become entangled in a bunch of masking tape I had thrown on the ground (from painting). Had to perform “surgery”, cutting all the tape away from him (her?).
Saw him sometime later sunning himself. I knew it was hime because he still had a little piece of masking tape left on his skin.
The end.
I think the squirrel had been drinking from the horse tank in the past and we usually kept it pretty full so for whatever reason, the heat maybe, the water level was low and when she fell in it was too low for her to get out. Thank goodness I went out that day and heard her splashing around.
Well played.
:) Hehehehehe It’s Friday night and all.
God.
My dog is a personal trainer for squirrels.
Stock tanks are deadly for little critters. My daughter had one of her baby lambs drown in ours last winter. Not a story with a happy ending. I found a drowned chicken in the same tank. Guess I learned that chickens can’t swim.
You B da hoe! ;-)
I got tired of looking at my bulldog’s crusty rear end so I was going to scrub it with a wash cloth.
I’m glad I waited: by the time Henry VIII took Bolougne on ‘The Tudors’ he’d done it himself.
That's why it's good to have a dog that likes to go swimming.
Any grooming issues are swiftly cured by a trip to the river for the dog to benefit from the natural conditioning agents flowing by.
I shot a rat with a pellet gun once at my house, I will never do that again, it was powerful enough to get into his guts, but not kill him quickly. He got away before i could finish him off, but I am sure that I read the situation correctly.
