I once saved a little snake that had become entangled in a bunch of masking tape I had thrown on the ground (from painting). Had to perform “surgery”, cutting all the tape away from him (her?).
Saw him sometime later sunning himself. I knew it was hime because he still had a little piece of masking tape left on his skin.
The end.
My next door neighbor had sticky traps for mice. Gopher snakes used to come to get the stuck mice and got stuck themselves, giving us an appreciation of the way the La Brea Tar Pits used to work.
We would rescue the snakes, and put them in an aquarium for the education and erudition of my daughter. After the snakes recovered, and grew up we released them into an appropriate meadow. One mouse a week is plenty and to spare for a snake.
