In the late Forties, early Fifties, my Mom used it too. Also kept a little bottle of straight coke syrup in the medicine cabinet. She got it at the pharmacy. Verner’s worked too, and it had the benefit of Ginger, which works very well.

coca cola in a small curvy bottle with Bayer aspirin.

That was the standard around our house.

I was very sickly as a kid. Mom gave me coke syrup whenever i was nauseas from all the meds i used to take. It really worked. I still drink coke to settle my stomach sometimes.

on a side note...

I still like to drink coke...I recently discovered Mexican Coke (imported from Mexico). It is coke made with real sugar instead of corn syrup. I love it...reminds me of how it used to taste when i would drink in back in the 60’s and 70’s.
We can buy it here (FL) by the case at Home Depot, of all places!
