They walked into a Manhattan hotel, knowing they were running out of time to save their season.
After 16 hours of tense talks, the NHL and its players finally achieved their elusive deal early Sunday morning, finding a way to restart a sport desperate to regain momentum and boost its prominence.
Ending a bitter dispute that wiped out a large part of the hockey season for the third time in less than two decades, the league and its union agreed to the framework of a 10-year labor contract that will allow a delayed schedule to start later this month.

How many years did it take professional baseball to recover from its strike fiasco?
Double it for hockey.

I haven’t spent a cent on pro sports in years. I just can’t see any reason to be supporting the crybabies.

I’ve never understood the need to pay money to see somebody do their job.

Hockey is definitely one of the most modest sports, along with the most talented athletes, alongside soccer. Hockey players are far from being divas, and just want to get on the ice.

Sadly, there are businesses which depend on these #$@&! overpaid selfish bums for their livelihood. Businesses in and around our hockey arena had to lay off people. And because of a now abbreviated season, a few may not survive.

You used the wrong “your/you’re” when you called that guy stupid.

Here in Tampa some of the players put their kids in the rec league programs. You’ll see some of the best players in the NHL sitting in the stands watching their 6 yr olds play.
For the most part they are pretty decent guys.
