2) Seoul's local government has launched a $44 million plan to blanket the city with free Wi-fi.

3) Some Japanese street signs have heat maps to relay congestion information to drivers and directly influence traffic patterns

Eco-friendly "Super Trees" in Singapore collect rain water, absorb heat and — like most trees — provide shade.

Devious.

Get everyone using the city's Wi-Fi. Then when the internet is being used to coordinate protests...pull the plug.

Our cities ARE Third World: Tribes of uneducated, morally bankrupt primitives warring for scare resources in economically depressed, lawless, crumbling, hell-holes. These aren’t melting pots, they’re septic tanks.

No apologies, but lots of condolences to anyone here that actually resides in one.

They’ll be able to pull the plug even if you’re paying for it.

Most of the medical care is very cheap, state of the art with little or no waiting.

Someone forgot to tell them that the government should be involved!

I would rather live in a rural-ish place where things stay pretty much the same, as they do where I live. Also happy to live in a place where you don’t have to collect rainwater to drink, like in Singapore.

Many US airports are run by corrupt municipalities, serviced by union contracts which pay kickbacks to the overseers.

This is a surprise?

New Orleans, Much of Houston or most any inner city area. They don’t even bother to investigate crimes in these areas. Black on black, latino on latino, asian on asian etc. and then cross pollination and then there is the white trash.

The sales tax rate in almost all states has TRIPLED since I was a kid. That is REAL dollars increase in taxes collected not just inflation. What do we get for it? Not very much. Streets of patches on top of patches, crumbling sewers and water lines. Every time there is a strain they threaten to cut police and fire protection but the big fat cats keep on trucking.

This is a corrupt and crumbling nation about to enter third world status if it is not there already in many places. 1/3 to 1/2 of the population are ignorant slovenly population of dishonorable thieves and parasites only interested in the next iSomething.

These and others would go there if they could, but guess what? Both these countries actually have borders that they can control.

Sanyo's MIRAI SANZO “communication robot” voice-control function allows homeowners to switch on and off floor heating, automatically fill the bath tub with hot water,

Imagine when the hacker across the street gets control of that.
