Dieting and exercising are perhaps the most popular New Years Resolutions, but don't worry if you've indulged on a few too many holiday treats this year. Swimsuits are already trickling onto retail shelves and the spotlight is on one-piece swimwear, not bikinis. Yes, that extra inch to pinch around your tummy can potentially remain hidden all year.
Every stylish celebrity from the curvier gals like Beyonce, Christina Hendricks, and Kim Kardashian, to the skinny-minnies like Taylor Swift, Kate Moss, and Kirsten Dunst are rocking one-piece bathing suits, or "maillots." As a result, the rest of us are heading directly to department stores, boutiques, and affordable mass-market shops to scoop up similar styles. The New York Post found that one-piece swimsuit sales are up around 20 percent in local New York shops.

It’s been really popular with the hipster set for the past couple of years. Cant say I disagree with the style. It looks far more glamorous.

I was hoping it meant the top only or the bottom only, but based on the picture I guess not.

Before there was PhotoShop, there was airbrushing, and it looks like the Catalina company made generous use of it on the blue model on the left, and also on the waist on the right.
That said, today’s supersized generation are too fat for bikinis, and thank God for those who realize it.

And it covers flaccid, shapeless, colorless swag guts on twenty somethings as well, which is a good thing.

Bikinis are not out of style. People are fatter. Though I guess styles go with the girth of the customer.

My teenage kids and I spend a lot of time in the summer swimming in the ocean on Cape Cod. We love our shorty wetsuits. You can go in and out of the water for hours without getting cold. They prevent sun-burns. They're comfortable. And they're modest. We prefer them to swimsuits.
We laugh at the turn-of-the-century swimsuits, but as far as coverage goes, they're comparable to wetsuits.

As a Christian guy I'm torn over the bikini. I want to say is acceptable, but I can't for sure.
What I can say for sure is that a fat lady in any swimsuit is an abomination!

Do one-piece bathing suits hide big asses? If so, maybe that’s why they are popular with many of today’s “stars.” I’m surprised that they didn’t mention J-Lo. Whenever they try to push the “lard-ass is fashionable” crap, they usually roll out J-Lo...

I tell you what’s not acceptable to me and that’s thongs. The idea of having a piece of fabric lodged up your...nevermind.
One-piece suits aren’t necessarily more modest because when they get wet, they become skintight and tend to show stuff off.

We have a boat in Ventura Ca so spend some time at the beach there. Took my 58 year old cousin with me and we went to the beach. I took my cover up off and laid down on my towel and she refused. When I asked why she said...I’m too fat. I said look around. We look better than the gals more than half our age out here. She did and took off her cover up. Lol
