the ones that I would trust are, unfortunately, expensive.
Anschutz air rifles come to mind. They are very, very, good.
You’ll shoot your eye out.
Red Rider bb will penetrate squirrel hide and kill ‘em.
Benjamin model 392 works very well.
In the attic, in the basement- Use MOTHBALLS, very effective. just spread them around
Daisy makes a 1911 frame-replica. CO2 charged. Makes for a great “answering the door when solicitors knock” piece.
Stiffened my share of chipmunks in the upper-midwest with it.
Beeman makes a fine air rifle. I’m partial to the spring/air type anyway. WalMart used to sell, maybe still does, a Beeman model for about $100. Accurate, fun to shoot, cheap to shoot.
With a thing that tells time!
Some of these break/barreled jobs at 1200 fps are good going for $200-$300. They get pretty loud though.
How close is your target? 10-20 yards or so a cheap crosman pump will work fine and a lot quieter for $60. You’ll only get one shot anyway. For stealth a simple bb gun will sting their butts pretty good.
Just be ready to dispose of the body quick or throw it in the neighbors yard with the doberman.
Childhood favorites like Crosman and Daisy are unfortunately shoddy and crude these days.
Watched a TV show about a guy building a cabin in on Kodiak Island the other night. He stated that the squirrels caused him more trouble than the bears. He then went on to say that squirrels were just rats with better outerwear. Funniest line I have heard on TV in a long time.
Bait it with peanuts or corn, then drive a few miles away and let them go in the woods ...
Ten days and you will have your problem solved without upsetting your neighbors ... that is until the new squirrels move into the area.
The traps are the best compromise ... if your neighbors dont care ... just get a .22LR rifle.
Ruger Air Hawk .177 Caliber Air Rifle Combo
About a 100 bucks Bass Pro and other retailers.
You can get a Ruger Air Hawk or Blackhawk with scope for about $100.
Havahart live catch traps work! I caught 20 squirrels the first year I put out 2 traps in my yard. I have 6 pecan trees they were raiding.
Ruger Air Hawk is about 200$ at Bass Pro Shop. Very nice air rifle.
Here in the valley we, my neighbors, and us have had in the past terrible problems with squirrels. We did lotsa bad things to get rid of them, but the one thing that did the trick was a trap called the “Squirrelinator”>
Do an internet search for Squirrelinator Trap. It works. Just take the little buggars away from your property, and dump them preferably in the forest, or somewhere where they won’t find their way back, but won’t be somebody else’s problem.
Those cute little suckers are the most destructive, and tenacious consumers of backyard gardens there are I believe.
If you can find one - Crosman Powermaster 760. I got one in the late 60’s, and it STILL works great!
I use a Crosman 760 on my farm for Squirells and stray dogs. Works great and is fairly accurate. Has a nice five shot reloader for pelets or the standard “fill ‘er up” hole for BB’s.
