Ok, I have a squirrel problem, and I am needing some recomendations for what to get to shoot them with, namely I want to use a pellet/bb gun. I want to get one that is powerful enough to put them down quickly but not too expensive. Any recomendations?
Ruger Air Hawk is about 200$ at Bass Pro Shop. Very nice air rifle.
Ahem... Correction on the yardage. I sort of Red-Rydered myself there thinking about big boy rifles.
Here in the valley we, my neighbors, and us have had in the past terrible problems with squirrels. We did lotsa bad things to get rid of them, but the one thing that did the trick was a trap called the “Squirrelinator”>
Do an internet search for Squirrelinator Trap. It works. Just take the little buggars away from your property, and dump them preferably in the forest, or somewhere where they won’t find their way back, but won’t be somebody else’s problem.
Those cute little suckers are the most destructive, and tenacious consumers of backyard gardens there are I believe.
If you can find one - Crosman Powermaster 760. I got one in the late 60’s, and it STILL works great!
Several years ago I bought a Crosby pump up air rifle for this purpose. However, “rifle” was a misnomer as it was a smooth bore, meaning that it wasn’t very accurate. Also, when pumped up enough to kill a squirrel it cracked about as loud as a .22 short. So, if discretion is your objective I’m not sure a high powered air gun is your solution. Might as well use .22 shorts, more accurate and efficient I would say. Suggest you check your local laws concerning shooting both firearms and air guns before you go forward with this endeavor though.
I’d disagree on Crosman/Daisy not because of effectiveness but because of the sights and trigger. Most inexpensive air guns have rudimentary sights and mushy trigger pull. Bushytails are not as easy of a target as they may seem. Even stationary they exhibit lots of quick movements and a rapidly changing profile. Good sights and a light, crisp trigger are a must.
I was having problems with rats in my attic. I mounted a couple of strobe lights that flash continuously about once a second in the attic. Rats were gone by the next day.
I use a Crosman 760 on my farm for Squirells and stray dogs. Works great and is fairly accurate. Has a nice five shot reloader for pelets or the standard “fill ‘er up” hole for BB’s.

Less than $35
RWS model 34.
I’d probably just get a .22. But, I’d probably have more fun playing with a .22 than with a Daisy.
Any ‘ol BB gun will probably suffice, provided you can hit the damn thing. Wal-mart sells Daisys for $30 or so.

A .22 rifle with CB rounds will do the job quietly and efficiently. No need for a BB gun...
Check your local hardware store. They are available in .22 LR or .22 short.

Hey! Squirrel makes a good meal. Throw 'em over my fence while they are still fresh.

Feed them unshelled, unsalted peanuts every day, and pray for forgiveness.
Most important!
Will your neighbors see you running around the yard with this “ASAULT WEAPON”?
I kid you not!
If neighbors can see you, use a trap or rodent kill.
You don’t want your rodent problem bringing “nuts” to your door.
Feed them unshelled, unsalted peanuts every day, and pray for forgiveness.
Put a two liter plastic bottle over the end of your .22 and have at it.
Crossman 760.

Costs about $20-$40. Pump it up about 6-10 pumps an use a good brand of pellet. The squirrels won’t stand a chance.
If it’s legal and safe where you are, a .22 rifle loaded with sub-sonic .22 shorts might be a good option.
