CNN's Piers Morgan upset over White House petition calling for his deportation

CNN's Piers Morgan is upset over a petition at the White House web site calling for his deportation, Twitchy reported Saturday.

"Ironic U.S. gun rights campaign to deport me for 'attacking 2nd Amendment rights' - is my opinion not protected under 1st Amendment rights?" he tweeted.

The petition, created on Friday, cites his relentless attacks on the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

"British Citizen and CNN television host Piers Morgan is engaged in a hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution by targeting the Second Amendment," the petition reads. "We demand that Mr. Morgan be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens."

The petition was started by "Kurt N" of Austin, Tex. and already has over 8,900 signatures. A threshold of 25,000 signatures is required for White House action. The Blaze identified the petition creator as possibly being "Kurt Nimmo of the website infowars.com."

Morgan, who is a British citizen, has repeatedly attacked the NRA and members of the gun lobby since the tragic Newtown school shootings. In a recent exchange, he berated an advocate of gun rights as "stupid."

Twitchy, a web site that dubbed the CNN talk show host "Musket Morgan," said the anti-Second Amendment pundit is "beside himself over this assault on his First Amendment rights."

He’s not a citizen is he? Then he doesn’t get our rights!

I wonder if he’s afraid of getting sent back and getting pulled into the hacking scandal.

He is such an idiot.

Yes, Piers, you can say any fool thing. The First Amendment DOES protect you.
By the way, we can call for your deportation. The First Amendment protects that too.

And oh by the way -- we can keep and bear arms as much as we like -- the Second Amendment covers that one.

Pears Moron has no constitutional rights. He is a foreigner. The Brits hate him so the sent him here. He is a creep of the first order. He is guilty of stealing peoples private information from their voicemail. Moron needs to go back to the British isles to live under the slimy Limey rock from whence he slithered.

If he’s so against the protections of the 2nd Amendment for citizens, what makes him think he as a foreign national and legal resident alien deserves the protections of the 1st?

Depends, he's been implicated in that phone hacking scandal. They might just throw him in jail.

As I understand the relationship between noncitizens and the Constitution is that non-citizens don’t have the same unlimited rights to protection of freedoms as citizens do.

The government cannot treat noncitizens with hostility, but there is no obligation to allowing them to express hostility to the government freely.

I, for example, could not burn the American flag on American soil, but an American citizen could.

Since nobody much actually watches him, he is more likely afraid of being pulled by the network.

I’m sick to death of OUR Constitution supposedly protecting people who ARE NOT citizens.

You don’t have protection in Mexico like a citizen of Mexico does because you aren’t a citizen of Mexico.

Wish someone would petition the Supreme Court and make them admit that the Constitution protection is only for Citizens of the USA...like that’s ever gonna happen.

Actually, the Supreme Court did rule on that. In my previous post, that was what they ruled, back in the 60’s sometime.

I don’t know how they have ruled on the issue since then, but that was where the court was at the time.

Exactly!!! In fact it is against Mexican law for foreigners to engage in any kind of political activity in Mexico, and I assume that publicly critiquing the Mexican Constitution would fall under that prohibition....

I wonder by what means he thinks his 1st Amendment rights might be protected if the 2nd is discarded?

“I’m sick to death of OUR Constitution supposedly protecting people who ARE NOT citizens.”

You will then have to take your grievance to Framers of the Constitution and every Supreme Court case that has dealt with the question.

The fact is that Mr. Morgan is protected by the Constitution in all matters specified in the document, except those that specifically address citizenship.

And the First Amendment does not mention the word “citizen.”
