What I did at Ole Miss had nothing to do with going to classes. My objective was to destroy the system of white supremacy.

My guess is that some people also don't know that Meredith also organized a Black Man's March to the Library to promote reading and writing of standard English, to introduce the black male to the library, to let him know he would have to go there, that the library is the place of knowledge.
The march started in Memphis and ended in Jackson. In each small town, the march would stop and take local residents on a trip to the library.
Yeah... the democrats were in power down here. You know why blacks are moving South... they are treated much better here than in places like Dayton and Chicago.
Matthew 7.5
King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)

Q&A with Douglas: Northern segregation

“Most people assume that school segregation was a phenomenon exclusive to the South. In his latest book, Jim Crow Moves North: The Battle Over Northern School Segregation, 1865-1954, law professor Davison M. Douglas examines the untold story of northern school segregation between the end of the Civil War and the early 1950s. Douglas, the Arthur B. Hanson Professor of Law, is a legal historian with an expertise on the interplay of race and law in American history. He recently sat down with the W&M News to discuss his book, which is being published by Cambridge University Press and will be available this month in stores.”

One of my degrees was earned in Boston.
Boston, late 70s-80, was the most racist city in which I've ever lived.
However, none of us should pretend that the integration of public schools in Mississippi went off without significant issues. Of all states, Mississippi would be a case study in the problems with integrating public schools.
Your point is like saying some northern colleges resisted admitting black students. That's probably true. However, I don't recall that any of them involved 3,500 troops, 500 law enforcement officers, riots, and a student who required 24-hour protection from U.S. Marshalls.
Remember South bashing is a full time hobby for some. Given our weather, land, creativity, cooking and beautiful women I attribute it to extreme jealousy....
Meredith has largely been ignored or reduced to a footnote by the leftist media. Because his agenda doesn’t fit with the typical leftist race narrative, he is of no use to them. Same goes for fellow Mississippian Charles Evers.
He's an opponent of affirmative action. Meredith's termed affirmative action ""nothing more than a political machine for the liberal elite," and said "I've always thought affirmative action was always a direct insult to anyone with any intelligence."
For forty years, he's told black men that their problem was a lack of education, saying in speeches that nine out of ten black males read at a third grade level. Once, when confronted by the media, Meredith said the number came from a study but he thought he was being generous in saying nine out of ten black males read at the third-grade level. He said he believes the actual number is even lower.
He was once quoted as saying that black mothers love their sons, but they educate their daughters, leading to the mothers losing control of their sons after the age of three.
In 1989 he told a Washington Post reporter that 60 percent of black leaders were involved in the drug culture and 80 percent were involved in corruption of one sort or another.
Meredith says that once he became an aide for Senator Jesse Helms, the "liberal elite of the universities" worked to prevent him from speaking on college campuses.
It's no wonder you rarely read about James Meredith. Generally, you hear from him only because the University of Mississippi wants to commemorate something and he declines to go along with it.
For example, Ole Miss wants to erect a state of him to commemorate the 50th anniversary of his admittance. Meredith says he'd like a statue, but only if it were to commemorate something he accomplished in his life. He says that the fact he simply enforced his Constitutional Rights isn't an accomplishment.
BTW... some of the black kids that I went to Junior High and High School with are customers and friends of mine today.
I was a Boy Scout as a kid... it was the best thing that ever happened to me and I support the Boy Scouts today and have friends that are Scoutmasters. GOD bless you for being one!!! Merry Christmas to you and yours.

They certainly want to move down here in large numbers... the bad thing is many want to bring the cancer that killed the North down here and infect us with it.

James Meredith is a fascinating and complex man - abandoned by the liberal elite, the Civil Rights movement, and the liberal media because of his conservative views.
Thanks for your support of Scouting.
Most of all, I appreciate your input on FR. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Same the “enlightened” left is everywhere. See something that is attractive so they obviously want to be here, then think they are smart enough to make it “better”...
“Too bad some folks here don’t realize that Meredith is a strident Conservative.”
It’s sad to see ignorant conservatives judging people by the color of their skin. We’re supposed to be better than that.
Amen!!! Merry Christmas to you and yours!
