My guess is that some people also don't know that Meredith also organized a Black Man's March to the Library to promote reading and writing of standard English, to introduce the black male to the library, to let him know he would have to go there, that the library is the place of knowledge.
The march started in Memphis and ended in Jackson. In each small town, the march would stop and take local residents on a trip to the library.
Meredith has largely been ignored or reduced to a footnote by the leftist media. Because his agenda doesn’t fit with the typical leftist race narrative, he is of no use to them. Same goes for fellow Mississippian Charles Evers.
