Just to mention this:
Today our unemployment rate increased yet again.
Sure there are things to argue about, but we for too long have been systematically destroying the very economy on which all this is built.
Stop it.
Bring jobs back to America.
Thank you.
I am also in favor of allowing the private sector to make business decisions
And the 254369 different taxes you have to pay to start up a business. Because you know, the have nots want what you have.the It is time for the GOP and the Dems to start working for Americans.
Lols! The Democrats are Communists who want to Redistribute America's wealth to the rest of the World and Communist China in particular.
As for the Republicans, they are either blinded by the Green in the money they receive from foreign lobbyist or are more concerned with being liked by the democrats to care.
Screw You American, I got mine and I am going to keep off shoring your job and inflating your money until its worthless.
Eliminate the tax imposed on manufacturers. Its for all intensive purposes, a VAT tax. Ditch the ridiculous regulations. Bury industry under cheap fuel sources till they don’t know what to do with it all.
I’d settle for them getting out of the way so they don’t continue driving jobs away. If I go back into business and hire a full staff (I have no employees now although it used to be over 50, a number I would never exceed with ObamaCare hanging over employers), and I lose money, I lose all the money that is lost. If I make money, I keep just under 50% of what I make, and that’s before any tax increases from Obama’s war on productive Americans. Those are not the best odds from the perspective of a small businessman, especially with the uncertainty over what other obstacles might come out of the federal government.
In reality, I’m probably out of that game permanently, but the far left’s disincentives are discouraging others who would like to create or expand a business. It’s sad what the politics of envy have done to a once great country.
Please tell us how this will work. How will business be competitive with foreign companies without mercantilism?
Just putting it out there is all.
We are outsourcing our country.
It has to stop.
You mean "please crate jobs and wealth so we can redistribute your profits" is not an effective sales pitch? How unexpected!
Most of those unemployed don’t want to work, let alone a factory, and most of the new entitled graduates are too good to work in manufacturing.
Anyone who has seen your rants knows what you really mean about "bringing jobs back to America" is to impose protectionism, high tariff's, etc. Your ideas are no different than Senator Bernie Sanders (Socialist-Vermont) or radical leftwing union leaders.
Want more jobs here in the states? Promote policies that help us compete: lower corporate taxes, less regulations, reduce or eliminate minimum wages, etc, etc. Competition is good, it benefits the country as a whole, leads to more jobs, promotes innovation, etc.
It is time for the GOP and the Dems to start working for Americans.
You're being naive. The left does not support competition, lower regulations, lower taxes, etc. The left supports "bringing jobs back to America" by eliminating competition via protectionist policies, tariffs, etc. From what I have read of your posts, you are squarely in the progressive left camp on this issue.
The thing is, as of the last election we have outsourced the GOP’s power base.
Dems through a steady process of massive layoffs, now have a majority, which will only tend to increase.
The GOP needs to abandon outsourcing, and get back to building America.
Is that leftist? Or rightist?
Or just American.
We're it up to you, American consumers would still be stuck buying unreliable, poorly built, garbage vehicles churned out by the Big 3 Automakers in Detroit - all in the name of keeping jobs here in the US.
Sorry Cringing, protectionism is a terrible, terrible idea. The party's can not come together to "bring jobs back to the US" because the Democrats and their union goon friends do not believe in competition, do not want to lower taxes, do not want less regulation, etc.
And no, we are not "outsourcing our country". You sound ridiculous when you spout far left talking points like that.
Where is this idea you have coming from that the GOP is FOR outsourcing? The GOP is for competition in a globalized world. When we can't compete, the jobs will go to those that can compete for them. Competition spurs innovation, lowers prices for the consumer, creates an attractive business environment, etc.
Your prescription is to stop competition. That is precisely what the left and their union goons want. Competition is what makes socialist utopian ideas fail. The big social welfare nanny states like CA, IL, NY, hate the fact that many states do a better job competing. Liberals, Democrats, Union thugs, etc, HATE that southern states, for example, try to attract business by lowering taxes, cutting regulation, going right-to-work.
I'm sure you mean well Cringing, but have you ever considered how important competition is? Why it works? Why pushing for competitive policies rather than protectionism is the better way to go. This isn't the 1950's where most of the world was recovering from the damage of WW2 and America was primed to dominate for a generation or two almost no matter what we did.
I mean, surely you see that you are aligning yourself with the far left on this issue and just regurgitating their talking points. Seriously, you sound almost exactly like Ed Schultz or Bernie Sanders when it comes to trade - that should give you pause.
I’m glad I’m on your side. The reality of our situation escapes many.
Demographics
Globalization
and Technology are changing the fundamentals.
You are not alone.
If the GOP were to take a few steps in the Ross Perot direction on trade policy it would suddenly create a lot of electoral headaches for the Democrats.
We can debate the macroeconomic pros and cons, but it would be a political winner.
Get the government and environmentalists out of the way for ten years. Use our natural competitive advantages. Actually welcome business in America. We can’t compete on the low cost of labor. That’s a loser. We need much better and stronger management.
Keep buying your foreign cars.... see how much that helps.
It helps a lot. It helps me drive a quality car instead of Big 3 garbage.
The ONLY reason the quality of American cars has been ticking up is because of foreign competition.
After owning several American cars back in the day I got my first Honda. I will never forget how shocked I was that the quality was so good, that it didn't need some immediate repair for a factory defect, that it almost never went to the shop, etc.
At this point I'd consider an American car again - but it would have to be able to compete on style, quality, price, how well it is likely to hold its value, etc.
Hondas are garbage...
Both of my Honda's were vastly more reliable than any Ford, GM or Chrysler I've ever owned. I believe both of my Honda's were built in right-to-work states in the South. My main goal is to avoid union labor.
