Makes sense to me. McElroy won a championship in college by not making mistakes....and lets face it, the Jets are making alot of mistakes right now. And, as much as I like Tebow, its hard to ignore the fact that his sideways release makes for a low ball, and its risky. I.E. mistakes could happen. The jets could still use Tebow though. Line him up as a bask...give McElroy the option to pitch to him, try a flea flicker, generally keep the defense guessing and frozen...it will open up the running game...and all of the sudden passing becomes alot easier. Tebow is an ‘x-factor’ player who would energize the fans. If putting him in as a back keeps him on the field more than tarified appearances at quarterback, then so be it
The Broncos wanted Peyton Manning with no distractions. They traded Tebow. Rex Ryan has remained adamant that Sanchez is THE MAN even when he is interception prone and loses them games. Tebow gets blitzed by the other teams and the Jets OL just aren’t that good especially when Tebow is the QB. I doubt it is intentional but something is going on.
You have defined what separates a good coach from an excellent coach.
The coach who evaluates player talent and adjusts the game plan to both take advantage of the talent and to shield weaknesses is what defines the great coach. Rex Ryan's entire staff seem clueless.
I will not be surprised to see both Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez go to other organizations and do very well. They both are talented atheletes.
I’ve thought the same thing and I ain’t a football coach. WTH hasn’t Rex Ryan been fired? Who’s doing the play calling and roster line-up? That have lost the season on tunnel vision coaching.
Yep...the Broncos figured that Tebow sucked after he took the team to the playoffs after they started the season 1-4....LMAO
The Broncos are doing well because they have one of the best three quarterbacks of all time, and I would argue the very best of all time. Tebow did in fact lead that team to the playoffs. They were horrible and completely out of contention when he took over mid-season. Regardless of his skills or abilities to be a long term success in the NFL, he very much did lead that team last year from a nothing to the playoffs, and a playoff win against an all-time great post-season team from Pittsburgh.

They were horrible with him as well. Only one of the teams the Broncos beat with Tebow at QB was over .500 at the time. Beating bad teams isn’t exactly “leadership”.
I think you are correct. There really seems to be an active effort on behalf of the Jets coaching staff to humiliate and destroy the career of Tim Tebow. I'm thinking they are resenting the decision of the owner/GM to trade for him and are making them pay for it. Ironically, it appears that the coaching staff is going to pay for this with their jobs once this train wreck of a season is over.
I haven't seen anything like this since Doug Flutie. For those old enough to remember, Doug Flutie was a very talented QB who was blackballed by NFL coaches and players because he crossed picket lines during an NFL strike back in the 1980s. Flutie was all but run out of the NFL and I feel that Tebow is going the same way.
You're probably right, at least partially. I don't think he has the typical skills now, the question is whether Tebow can develop into a NFL-style passer. I've heard some "experts" say yes, others say no. And even if he can, is a team going to see enough possibility there to invest millions of dollars to help him do that? I'd hate to see him not make it in the NFL, but he'll be fine if he doesn't.
Tebow can hold for kicks, come in on punting downs, and play in double tight-end formations. He'll make plays and score points and be a useful NFL player for a number of years. But just look at the difference in what Tebow has done in the NFL so far and what Colin Kaepernick has done in the NFL so far, and you'll see what the complaint is.
