I don't care that Southwest Airlines plants gardens. Do you? How about lower fares?

ANOTHER piece of evidence we are living in a world of sissies: watching the NFL today, just saw a commercial for Southwest Airlines that showed their ticket sellers and flight attendants PLANTING STRAWBERRIES or something like that.

What the hell? How about boasting about better service? Or a great new lower fare structure?

Nope. In the age of the fruitiest Oval Office occupant since James Buchanan, we see businesses talking about their green thumbs.

Pathetic.

Am I overreacting? I mean, I like SWA, have flown them several times and will again, but that commercial just seemed STUPID.

I couldn’t really care less to be honest. I refuse to fly until the TSA and their molestations stop. I refuse to fly until I can defend myself on an aircraft. I refuse to give money to any airline until they help curb the TSA.

So, their fare rates don’t mean anything to me, I’m not giving them or any other airline a dime.

Most businesses like to display some level of social responsibility and citizenship in their corporate accomplishments.

It is just marketing and PR. Don’t read too much into it. Besides, is there such a thing as lower fares than Southwest?

No kidding. They already have the most competitive fares day in and day out. This has been my favorite airline for at least 25 years.

Maybe a tad. I'm 1M miles with AA. Close to 1M with UA. And, "Companion Pass" on SouthWierd. Yea. They're a bit whacky. But; wife flies free, free drinks, first on the plane, 2 free bags when I have to check them, and free wifi (right now actually). Know what you get from AA and UA now adays? Undersized coach seats. No upgrades. Charged for everything. Old-bag union flight attendants with an attitude. I'll take a little whacky.

I think Spirit is cheaper, but you do pretty much have to get out and help push the plane down the runway (you also pay for pretty much everything and the interior looks like a city bus what with all the adverts).

This means you actually pay attention to commercials. I don’t as a rule. I like to have a program recorded so I can zip past all the commercials.

Next week they’ll have a Commercial showing SW Employees throwing AR-15’S into a Furnace to be melted down.

You have to play to the audience, even if they are nothing more than Useful Idiots.

I'm with the poster.

Southwest helps the communities they serve by supplying reliable flights at good prices. What they make their employees do for P.C. reasons is of no interest to me whatsoever and actually lessens the company in my eyes.

I have a Southwest Visa card. They send me 4 coupons for drinks for a round trip flight. My husband doesn’t drink, so he gives me his. I’m feeling pretty good by the time I get to my destination.

One in 2005. Plane slid off a runway at O’Hare and went onto a local road hitting a car, a child was killed.

That’s the only one

I belong to an organization that makes frequent consumer surveys.

Some of the questions about customer attitudes that always frustrates me are the ones that ask if such and such a company is a good citizen in the community and do I trade with them because of their charitable work.
