One would think so, but I wonder since much of it lies within the China Lake Weapons test center......?

I was almost sure you had a webcam link for it. :) That’s a beautiful part of the world for sure!

This is an area that has been on my radar for months. Something odd here, as practically all of the almost daily activity is 20 - 40 miles in deep, otherwise it would be making the news, IMO.

Good point! It would have an effect on availability of data.

This area (Bouvet) reminds me of the Vela Incident. CIA declassified the docs (still a lot of it redacted).

http://www.foia.cia.gov/docs/DOC_0000037625/DOC_0000037625.pdf

http://www.foia.cia.gov/docs/DOC_0001108246/DOC_0001108246.pdf

From Wiki: The “double flash” was detected on September 22, 1979, at 00:53 GMT, by the American Vela satellite 6911, which carried various sensors that had been designed specifically to detect nuclear explosions. In addition to being able to detect gamma rays, X-rays, and neutrons, the satellite also contained two silicon solid-state bhangmeter sensors that would be able to detect the dual light flashes associated with an atmospheric nuclear explosion: the initial brief, intense flash, followed by the second longer flash.[3]

The satellite reported the characteristic double flash of a small atmospheric nuclear explosion of two to three kilotons, in the Indian Ocean between The Crozet Islands (a very small, sparsely inhabited French possession) and the Prince Edward Islands which belong to South Africa at 47°S 40°ECoordinates: 47°S 40°E. The previous 41 double flashes that the Vela satellites detected were all subsequently confirmed to be nuclear explosions.[7]

Not meteor strikes - the objects were too large. Read through the slides carefully. The rapid drift was caused by the simultaneous impacts = source of requisite force to move the continents. A massive pressure wave could have contributed to the transits of Africa and India, but the source of that wave was the impacts.

Your area of interest in the Caribbean was created by the northern object’s transit, and so the depth is no surprise because of the object’s massive size.

As I said in the previous post, geologists have it all wrong. The garbage that has been published as a consequence of accepting continental drift as scientific truth is sad though creative.... For example: Snowball Earth could not have happened.

It’s not easy creating a paradigm shift, but I am trying. The slide presentations are a repository while I pursue acceptance.

Sorry, I did just glance at them but was planning to read them when I got the chance. I saw enough to realize they're well done though. Good work! ;)

I plan to have a closer look at them later tonight...

they do have a weather station (supposedly and not of a human variety)

Submit a proposal to the USN, USAF, NASA, NSF, USGS and NOAA to fix the problem of no US observation stations with webcams in these hotpspots and more (i.e., maintenance of existing geo sites worldwide). Don't forget to tell 'em you're a girl...

Trust me, it seriously helps! ;)

lol, i have seen this though. a nice spot by my penguin friends would be lovely for a webcam. it does have it’s own domain (.bv) and area code, but no people nor net.

The Last Place on Earth, Bouvet Island.

I forgot, the Ambassador appt. to Norway for this venture would be essential.

Interesting...

To what do you contribute the rise of the greatest mountain chain of all time, the Appalachians>?

That major quake offshore Japan is still cool.

A major quake like that you would think you would have greater spread in location and depth. They have remained relatively constant.

Not sure by what metric one arrives at the Appalachian’s as the greatest mountain range.... I recall that geologists think they were formed by the retreat of the glaciers. Not so sure about that. Their formation might have been caused by the halting of NA’s movement at the end of the simultaneous impacts event.

Nah you might want to follow up on them...they were not formed by glaciers and truly were the tallest mountains on the planet.
