To what do you contribute the rise of the greatest mountain chain of all time, the Appalachians>?

Not sure by what metric one arrives at the Appalachian’s as the greatest mountain range.... I recall that geologists think they were formed by the retreat of the glaciers. Not so sure about that. Their formation might have been caused by the halting of NA’s movement at the end of the simultaneous impacts event.
