LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Juan Manuel Marquez knocked Manny Pacquiao out cold with a vicious right hand at the end of the sixth round Saturday night, putting a ferocious end to the fourth fight between the two boxers.

Pacquiao had been down in the third round but knocked Marquez down in the fifth and the two were exchanging heavy blows in the sixth round before Marquez threw a right hand that flattened Pacquiao face down on the canvas at 2:59 of the sixth round.

The biggest loser was Mayweather tonight.

Sounds like Manny got the kind of fight he wanted and got knocked out anyway. Pacquiao is younger than Marquez (or Mayweather, for that matter), but it’s been clear from the three fights before this that his best boxing days are behind him. If he’s smart he’ll call it a career and move on to the rest of his life.

Serves that punk Gay-Weather right for dodging Pac Man all these years and now he won’t get that big money fight.

Gay-Weather wanted to fight an old, broken down shell of the Pac Man and win a bunch of money and claim he’s the greatest.

How’d that work out for you, you chicken shit jive ass?

Pac Man fought way above his natural weight class.

He started out as a Fly-weight (108lbs.) and worked his way up to fight bigger fighters as that’s where the talent and the money is.

Marquez is a natural Welterweight/Super Welterweight.

A good big-man beat a good small-man.

Have Marquez come in at 135-139 lbs., Pac - Mans natural weight and PM would destroy him.

Even at the heavier weights such as Welterweight, the toll of fighting bigger men took it’s toll on the natural Lightweight - something Gay-Weather was waiting for - to fight a worn out, shell of a Pac Man and then proclaim himself the best fighter ever.

All Gay-Weather proved was his stupidity, his fear of Pac-Man because he knew Pac would surgically destroy him and send him home full of excuses and crying like a baby.

Pac Man made the mistake of fighting all comers and eventually fighting a natural Welterweight 4 x, beating him 2x and 1x a draw. Pac knew that anything short of knocking out the bigger fighter would only leave more doubt, more controversy and he stepped out of his game and tried to KO the bigger fighter - something he should have done at the start of the 6th after he staggered MM at the end of the 5th.

Take a look at the two - while the weight difference was negligible, MM has a much bigger frame and body compared to the naturally smaller Pac Man.

I bet Gay-Weather is begging to fight Pac Man under any conditions right now and would even fight in the Manila/QC Metro area.

Sorry chump - you blew it. Screw you, gay-weather. You’re not a fighter, you’re an opportunist.

Much like Ray Leonard who refused Tommy Hearns a rematch for 8 years before fighting him again and getting thoroughly beaten, although the boxing mafia called it a “draw” and Leonard refused to give Hagler a rematch after that debacle in scoring that gave Leonard the win.

Of course, if Leonard lost, he demanded a rematch while the arena seats were still warm, using gloves of his choosing, ring size of his choosing, judges and referee of his choosing, arena of his choosing, date of his choosing, etc..

I’d like to see MM and PM fight a fifth time at 140 lbs. to make it more even - MM loses some punching power, while PM returns to something more closer to his natural fighting weight.

Pac Man is handicapped by having to fight in a division that adversely affects his skills, while it is perfect weight for Marquez.

Let’s even it out a bit.

Match #5 should be at Super Lightweight at 140 lbs.

And no Gay-Weather, you don’t get a shot at either fighter.
You have to fight to earn a title bout you trash talking punk.

A fight at 135-140 lbs. between Pac-Man and Marquez.

I would then like to see Pac-Man become President of the RP and clean up the corruption in that country - the good Filipino people deserve better.

AlexW, hope you’re going well. Looking forward to the day where we can shoot the sh*t on the beach without a care in the world, although the Dollar is losing value to the Piso.

Thanks again, Obama.

There will be a fifth fight I guess. I love PM and JMM. I have given up on watching boxing after the Bradley fight. Just too corrupt. I’ll stick with MMA.

Leonard also got Hagler to agree to a 12 round fight instead of 15 and ruined championship boxing. Imagine the beating Hagler would have given him over those missing three rounds...

I remember Hagler leaving the US in disgust at having to throw a fight to the kid with the golden spoon while Hagler had to come up thru “Brockton, Mass” a not so nice place and made it on his own.

After the Leonard debacle, Hagler left the US, never to fight again. Last I heard, he was doing Spaghetti Westerns in Italy.

Hagler would have killed Leonard if he ever caught him in that monstrous (25’?) ring.

Leonard was on his bicycle the entire time, backpedaling for his life.

The Hearns-Leonard rematch years later that resulted in a draw did it for me - I gave up watching and paying for boxing for about 15 years. It wasn’t until PacMan and people like him came around. Of course, they get screwed as well which just makes more money for the rematch.

PacMan is a 135 LB. fighter at his best. Marquez is best at 147 lbs.

PM had to go up in weight, losing speed and power while MM suffered no such disadvantage.

The 5th fight needs to be met in the middle of their best fighting weights - perhaps 140 lbs.

And Gay-Weather does NOT get to fight the winner. He has to work his way up and fight numerous wars to get a #1 ranking or he can go pound sand.

And the fighters should give half of their proceeds to the poor in their country.

It’s a shame - the RP is such a beautiful country, but so corrupt. Perhaps when Pac Man become President, he will clean the country up.

Too bad the phony president doesn’t go in for boxing as a hobby. There are millions who would love to get in a ring with that fruitcake.

Besides, many of us would begin to enjoy boxing.

Pacquiao was cutting Marquez to pieces until he walked into a right hand that poleaxed him.

Mayweather was the highest paid athlete in the world without fighting Pacquiao. What makes you think he needs him to make money?

A good big-man beat a good small-man.

I take it you didn't see the fight between Mayweather and Marquez. Perhaps you should try and find it before you make yourself look any sillier than you already have.

Oh yes, and a big thanks to the dumbass OP for posting a spoiler in the title and ruining it for anyone who hadn't seen it yet. I have seen this on FR before which is why I didn't come here (for this or any other major sporting event) until after I had seen it myself.

It’s obvious to anyone with a brain in their head that Gay-Weather won’t step in the ring with PacMan until PM is slurring like Ali.

Mayweather is just a big-mouthed, all-talk punk and has proven it time and time again.

While PM fought, Gay-Weather ducked and ran his mouth.

I guess fixed-fights and Wrestlemania is more to his liking, eh?

I know Pac is popular here for his pro-life and pro-marriage comments but most seem unaware that he

A)Is associated with a left of center party in his country.

B)BRAGGED about helping elect HARRY REID and JERRY BROWN in 2010

Yes it’s true, look it up.

So he’s a socially conservative democrat, which one step above centipede larvae in my book. You can still like him as a fighter but as a politco, no.

For bragging about helping Harry Reid I am glad he got KTFO.

As to weight, your natural weight is what you weigh before you dehydrate and or starve yourself to make a lower weight. I’ve read that both Manny and Marquez walk around at about 150 (Pac is no flyweight anymore). If they are about the same size why should that not fight fresh at 147? Márquez looked a little bigger (maybe just cause Paq has huge legs accounting for some of his weight) but nothing to suggest they are weight classes apart like Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. who had 20 pounds on Sergio Martinez.

I don’t like guys killing themselves and fighting dehydrated and weak, case in point De La Hoya and Pac man. De La Hoya looked like an escapee from a concentration camp and had no chance, thus it was no feather in Manny’s cap to beat him.

They put most of the weight back on after the weigh in, it’s pretension so you can go down and fight smaller men, but now since almost everyone does it a guy HAS to do it just to compete cause everyone at his real weight class is actually heavier.

In MMA it’s even more exaggerated as being heavier is more important for grappling than it is for just boxing.

Anyhow I don’t think Mayweather was gonna fight him anyway, he doesn’t need the money and I would figure he doesn’t want to risk defeat.

Manny’s struggles against JMM, a counterpuncher like Mayweather illustrate to me that Mayweather, an even better counterpuncher, would have been the victor in that fight, even if happened 2 or 3 years ago when it should have.

But I guess Mayweather is not as confident in his own abilities. Too bad for him, he’ll be remembered for ducking Pacman (I think there was reluctance on both sides but more Mayweather), beating him would have done much for his legacy.

After a lackluster effort against Bradley (Paq was certainly robbed of the decision but he really should have knocked the light punching Bradley out) and highlight reel KO this might be it for Manny.

Also interesting, the UFC was on free tv last night (when was the last time boxing was? The early 90’s?) and all the talk is about Paq getting KOed.

Last night, two older fighters got blasted. Pac and BJ.

I follow mma more so than boxing, and it is a shame to see someone[BJ] fight in a class where he only has one victory[Hughes].

Hey he got caught with a perfect punch. It happens. Two great fighters whose styles make their fights great fights. But I gotta say, Marquez looks like he’s gained a hat size or two recently.

I admire Penn for fighting at 170 but he clearly has no chance against good Welterweights, McDonald had 20+ pounds on him and the enough skill to go with it that it may not have mattered if they were the same size, Penn had no chance, he did not appear to be better conditioned either. This after Nick Diaz rearranged his face in his last fight.

If he wants to keep fighting it has to be at 155, I would not blame him for retiring though.

You might add Rua to the “old” list. He’s only 31 but he seems old now. I guess he as taken too many punches.
