Weather was unseasonably warm in western PA this week, 60 degrees F. I was picking dandelions out of the yard - dandelions sprouted like it was summer.

Thanks for the congratulations on my abilities to discern your psychological issues....sarcasm implied.
I guess I will be the one to spell it out for you, I almost spoke for all freepers but caught myself, I will address this from a personal perspective. I assume many here at free republic are equally concerned with the state of our great nation.
Many have served in uniform, had family who have served and/or lost loved ones through the many wars fighting for our countrymen and principles.
Having said that, it is my opinion, there is absolutely nothing wrong with engaging in a topic of enjoyment and relaxation. This fosters another level of camaraderie.
Many times I have caught myself to absorbed in the daily depressing issues of the day and have been able to divert myself though a thread such as the gardening thread.
I caution you to find a topic that is an escape, where you can find some enjoyment and relaxation. This will serve you well, it provides you an opportunity to recharge your batteries and live to fight another day.
Take this advice if you so chose, if not then that is your choice but to cast aspersions upon others is unbecoming.

Thanks greeneyes...I need all the prayers I can get.
Obviously my greatest deadly sin issue is wrath and I just can’t seem to get a handle on it.
Glad my spontaneous outburst gave you some joy lol.
Merry Christmas!!!

Any rental places around your area? They may have Bob Cats for rent. The one near me does, and they will deliver and pick up. I have no idea of the cost.

Thank you. I am quite sure your advice is wisdom. I just don’t use FR for that purpose, for escape and relaxation, but enough said. I’ll take your word for it that so many, many others do. Obviously, we see that there are a number of comments on this very thread. Thanks. Rita

Well, some people say to get a paint brush (like in kids watercolor) or Q tip and just kinda work it around a little touching each flower.
I had success just using a fan and flicking them with my fingers. In the afternoon, the sun shining in from the south west makes the room pretty warm so I always turn on the fan. Then as I go by the plants, I give them a little flick with my index finger and thumb. So far it has worked ok.

I usually manage to maintain an outward appearance of calm, even if I am seething on the inside.
However, I so dislike allowing anyone to impact my behavior and reactions. I have to remind myself more often than I would like, that anger is really my choice, and mine alone.
I do better now than I used to. However, this was a bit unexpected, and I was a bit taken aback.

Well, rita, if the sh*t ever hits the fan it will be the bandwidth mooching monthly donor folks like us who are keeping our neighbors fed.
It’s an ant and grasshopper kind of thing.
Now that you have made your disdain for the topic abundantly clear, I would respectfully ask that unless you have something positive to add to the conversation that you refrain from posting on this thread in the future.
Peace out.

I second that motion. Never ever has this thread experienced such. It has always been a haven away from the snarling that happens elsewhere.

In as much as you believe this, and similar, non-”hard news” threads do not belong on Free Republic, I refer you to the following official pages:
http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/post_article
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/topics
Carefully peruse them, and note the diversity presented, and reflect upon it.
I am very confident in my belief that if Jim didn’t condone this type of use of his bandwidth, that he would not have allowed these threads to be posted without zotting them; instead, he graciously provided specific places to post them.
Also, if such topics offend thee, then cut them off, by properly configuring your side-bar & Topics preferences: you’ll never see them again.

Gosh, Rita, are there vast roving bands of Freepers SNORTING away at threads they believe unjustified?
I usually just ignore threads of no interest to me--life is too short to wander through them and belittle people whose hobbies and interests do not intersect with my own.
Hint: Conservatism is about individuality, among other things. One hobby does not suit all.
