Postman Gareth Lewis sees so many cats while delivering mail to homes in Wimbledon, south-west London, that he decided to document them in a blog.
He has seen a wide selection of different felines on his travels, noting that some are nosy, others stand-offish and several are rather portly.
Mr Lewis decided to begin his own mog blog earlier this year, a cat-alogue in the truest sense.
Within a month hed jotted down the names, habits and locations of the most prominent local felines.
To make sure there is no confusion, he also photographs each one and now has about 60.
The 42-year-old admits its an odd pastime.
If there is an owner around, I will tell them what Im doing because it looks a bit strange, said Mr Lewis from Banstead, Surrey.
I have had a few funny looks. I like to keep records and always have done.
I used to keep diaries as well so I think Im a little bit compulsive.
A typical entry reads: Street: Ridgway Gardens. Name: Cowardly Lion. Location: Uncomfortable fence perch. Other: A simply divine mog.
He added: Really it was just for my own entertainment.
Check out Mr Lewis blog at streetmog.blogspot.co.uk.
There are a couple of calico cats that he refers to as “he.” I thought calicos were almost always female.
Half of his black and white kitties look like the same cat.
He reports he “edged closer” to the mog in the window. Wonder if he ever got reported as a peeper.
They are. Methinks Mr Postman is using the generic "he".
Or a cat burglar.
Enjoyed that journey with the postman, what a lovely fellow he must be, and every cat looks so well fed and well looked after. Nice one.
Glad you liked.
Beats me. We’re certainly benefiting from the habit, though.
Couldn't pick a favourite, so I saved the collage he calls 'the first fifty'.
Go figure, while this guy is walking his route and taking pictures my postalperson sits at the far end of a strip-mall parking lot, reading and listening to his radio.....
Leni
Ha ha—there’s one who does that in the park near me.
Mog (moggie) = mongrel
S and A- You Rock! Just got my coffee, decided to pop in here before checking my mail, and what do I see? Kitties!!!!
Brought the laptop to the bed, moved the cat so she can see and we are having a lovely morning together reading the blog and looking at the cats together.
I think she likes, her purr is about a 5.5 on the Seismic Purr scale.
Human and kitty bonding on so many levels. YAY!!!
