Before we get into this, we'd like to apologize in advance, because we're about to give you a link to perhaps the worst article in the history of sports.
...and Whitley's article, which went up on Thursday, is as asbestos-y as anything you'll ever read. A brief example:
"San Francisco's Colin Kaepernick is going to be a big-time NFL quarterback. That must make the guys in San Quentin happy.
"Approximately 98.7 percent of the inmates at California's state prison have tattoos. I don't know that as fact, but I've watched enough "Lockup" to know it's close to accurate.
"I'm also pretty sure less than 1.3 percent of NFL quarterbacks have tattoos. There's a reason for that.
"NFL quarterback is the ultimate position of influence and responsibility. He is the CEO of a high-profile organization, and you don't want your CEO to look like he just got paroled.
I'm not sure what Kaepernick's tattoos have to do with his present or future as a starting NFL quarterback, though everybody knows that Kaepernick has been very successful with a small sample size of two NFL starts with the San Francisco 49ers. So, perhaps Whitley was looking for a different angle, and he didn't have time for stuff like interviewing, homework, or film study.

Tattoo’s look low-class and are signs of bad character.\
Everyone wants to be a victim these days it seems
Well, you’re not supposed to eat shellfish, pork, or mix fabrics either (i.e. cotton/polyester, etc) - how’s that working out for you?
FRegards,
PrairieDawg (no, I don’t have tats either - but I think Colin is a good QB)
my brother got one while in AF many years ago, when he got his first real job...he was told to keep it covered up...said he regrets ever getting one...said he grew up.
my husband was Army in the 1960’s said that was one thing smart people never did...we have two adult kids..neither have any tattoo's.
Not a chance. In Pittsburgh, Lane was driven home by the cops most nights after he wrecked his car. In New York, I'm sure Joe Broadway had a cop driving him from club to club.
It's a different world today. But then again, neither Lane or Namath were millionaires. They made a good buck, but they weren't wealthy. They were just local 'celebraties' who got a break if they screwed up. It only cost them a couple of tickets to the next game.
That's nice, but it's still stupid IMHO. But I'm and old guy, so what the hell do I know. ;~))
I just keep thinking that when he's my age, he will look at them in the mirror in the morning and say "What the hell was I thinking."
“females should never get a tattoo of a hummingbird on their boobs cause is will be a vulture on their belly when they get old...”
Uh oh, now you did it, I will be having nightmares all night!!
I got my first tattoo at 50 years old. That was nine years ago. My (then) twenty three year old son and I both got identical tattoos of our family clan badge on our right shoulders that day.
I wear that tat with pride, but I haven't gotten another one since. If I ever do, it'll have something to do with Old Glory and American patriotism.
LOL, I am a BIKER, A Rock Musician, AND a Bass Player.
And I have NO INK.
I don’t fit in anywhere, and am a rebel among rebels.
My granddad was from that era, but he built bases and naval ports for the War Department during WWII.
He had one, and only one tattoo. It was of a Polynesian girl with no bra and a grass mini skirt on his forearm. When he'd flex the muscles in that arm, her hips would wiggle back and forth.
My brothers and I thought that was the most tricked out thing imaginable.
I'm black, but I'm considered (by black folks) to be light skinned. My one and only tattoo is in color, and stands out nicely on my shoulder.
The thing I've always wondered, is why dark skinned people don't get their tats done in white (or bright colored) ink. Those colors are available, and they would certainly contrast better against their skin.
Colin seems like a good kid and he can really throw. Why all the tats is something I can’t understand.
When I got my one and only tattoo years ago, my wife considered getting one too. Being the old fuddy duddy that I am, I couldn't figure out a single place on her body that would be ladylike, so I talked her out of it.
Now I'm glad I did. It wouldn't have done a thing to enhance the skin she was born with.
I am sure you know that from personal experience.
I just know you wish you could take that back. Glad it wasn't me that said it .. LOL
Not here, you're not. Libs are the establishment. Conservatives are the true rebels. Wear it with pride.
No offense taken, Mike. I’m a conservative, remember?
LOL sorry :O(
My granddaughter talked me into one and said she’d make an appointment with a good artist....she never got around to it, and the only unwrinkled place I have is my shoulder. I don’t think they can work tattoos between wrinkles...:O)
It's just as well. You're not missing anything.
For what it's worth, I could never put a permanent mark on my body that didn't contain some very special significance to me. The real estate of my own skin is far too precious to me to ink in anything frivolous. That's why I only have the one tattoo of my family's clan badge.
