A San Francisco woman took crime fighting into her own hands this week when she doused a potential thief with bear spray and delivered him into the handcuffs of police while live-tweeting the whole incident.
Photographer Sonya Yu began tweeting about the intruder Tuesday morning, saying that the suspect had been plaguing the neighborhood with thefts of deliveries.
"He's the one that's been rampantly stealing packages in our neighborhood. I put out a bait package today & will be quietly working," she tweeted.
"My bear spray, bokken, & I are still not intimidated," Yu tweeted. "He's back & strong apparently. We keep bear spray by the door, so my plan is spray, call 911, & mutilate his junk."
A bokken is a wooden sword that was used to train Japanese samurai warriors.
When she saw the suspect approach her house Tuesday afternoon, Yu said she grabbed a can of "bear spray," a powerful pepper-spray like substance, and went out on her balcony, dousing the alleged thief.
He had a knife but did not attack her, she said.
The man fled from Yu's home, but she called police and went after him, according to her Twitter feed.
"He escaped, but not far. The bear spray debilitated him & painted him orange so other cops picked him up within 5 minutes. GOT HIM!" she wrote.

A friend lives in this neighborhood, and confirms this has been going on for months, that no one could catch the guy in the act. I don't think he'd lost anything, but his neighbors and maybe his roommate had. He's very glad this gal took the guy out.

Good for her! It would be a better world if our law establishment would perform similar “stings”.
However, I’d wager this perp will get off without a slap and likely sue her.
Quite a multi-tasker!
Great name for a dog.
I would NOT want to be the boyfriend/husband who cheated on this gal.
I’ll bet she cooks up some mean blow-torched ribs.
Unless she was previously a “he” I am concerned the City of San Fransisco will have her arrested for assault. She may get a lighter sentence if her azz is rainbow colored. We’ll have to wait and see.
I know a woman that found her boyfriend in bed with another woman and sprayed them both down with bear spray. Apparently private parts are pretty sensitive to the stuff.
She baited him?
That’s entrapment. An seeing how this is Kalifornia, I’m sure she must have broke some kind of law. /S
I have no sympathy whatsoever for the thief, but I'm guessing the law will have no sympathy for her.
Great job BUT they will end up charging her with premeditated assault AND threatening HIS JUNK.
Then baiting him etc, with the screwy way things are going these days she will end up in jail and he will end up with her house....
Should NEVER, EVER brag about ‘setting some one up’, some slick lawyer will bite you in the arse with your own statements....IF they get to her before the DA....
LOL, I love it! Smart lady.
No one knows if this particular guy was the same guy and her life was not in danger. She certainly should NOT have chased him down over a package! If he hurt one of her kids, ok...but seriously. This is over-the-top and she should be sued. ...and probably will be. He was no threat to her personally.
Wonder which neighborhood this happened in?
My first thought: Wahoo! Take that, thieves!
My second thought: Oh, crap. She’ll probably get charged for laying in wait or some such.
My third thought: Boy howdee, any pepper spray strong enough for bears has got to hurt something fierce when you get a face full of it.
And my fourth thought: A bokken is nice, but a katana (a real one) is even better. Just ask Bruce Willis!
You either forgot the /s or the /barf, which one?
